Hi John
As per our earlier conversation the following are the contact details regarding 'Read regional 2017' it would appear be an initiative to encourage people to both write and read books and poetry within the context of the library system with some sponsorship from the Arts council. there is a website
www.newwritingnorth.com and there is also a local contact listed for Stockport Rachel Broster, senior Librarian
Rachel.broster@stockport.gov.uk
much of the other representation seems to be heavily in the North East and also Yorkshire with only Blackburn, Cumbria and Stockport representing the North West.
It maybe that central library may want to encourage a poetry session there! Hope this is of interest
Martin

Thanks for commenting on 'Coming Home' and 'The Devil On My Right Shoulder' Cynthia - I like that you think the former could be a Beatles lyric - might have a go at that cos I'm going into recording studios again shortly :-) as for the choice of' right shoulder' - well I wrote the verse and had the idea of an angel on my left shoulder and a devil on my right shoulder - more as a political statement - which worked even better when I went looking for a picture to go with the piece and found the one used (which luckily had the devil on the right shoulder)

Call me dopey ( many people do especially my wife) but i never connected you with the tweets i liked. It was late i suppose and I'm sure I would have got there in the end (honest). As well as Twitter you can also find me on "hellopoetry.com" which is a site i think you would enjoy. Has some really good work on it.
See you around

Hi Garry,
Thank you for the kind words you wrote in response to my poems. Like you, I also have a deep appreciation for economical language, as I enjoy the challenge of conveying my message in so few words.
Looking forward to reading more of your poetry. Until then, I'll see you on twitter! ?

Hi Greg,
Time Travel
To go back to a certain day
Knowing the words spoken in every detail
Might make you do or say something
That each comment uttered says without doubt
I have heard that poem told before
Not by a different person but you.
Just my way of saying you put down April instead of May
for the next meeting of Write Out Loud

Hello Arya, I can't say i understand your anguish, although naturally i sympathise. What i can say with more certainty is that writing, whilst no cure for misery and addiction, does help in a small but crucial way to get what's in your head out and somewhere safer. Keep at it. Good luck.

Thanks for commenting on 'The Father's Curse' Cynthia - as always you are very insightful in the points you pick up.
'Terminal Velocity' vs 'High Velocity'? I guess that's down to accent and delivery - but 'terminal' trips off my northern tongue very rhythmically when reading the piece - so works for me :-)

Hello Garry, Thank you for expressing an interest in a number of my poems. I do appreciate this. Most of my poetry is focused on my observations of life in general. The complexities of human behaviour, the world about us and who we are and why we are here. I am also affected by conflict and human suffering, hence my interest in Peace and Justice. It is the ability to express oneself which poetry enables me to do this. I am close to seventy years old and as a gay man I have had to carry this as an additional burden in life thus making me more sympathetic with other minority groups who similarly suffer discrimination. Your recent poem about being admitted into hospital had quite an effect on me as I have recently been diagnosed with angina.
Thanks again for such interest. I shall be keen to see more of your poems in the future. Thanks again. Keith

you're clearly a great mum.

Lured To the desk of death.
Where many heads have left there necks.
Figures scutter across there crimson innards.
The stench of flesh dissected by insects.
Vermin feast for free, Souls left rotting in purgatory by the murder scene.
Tried to hurdle the guillotine past Guards in metal garments.
Clawed with a blade, stained red like an artist of war.
Human canvas painted by swords.
Chained to bascule, Flagellated with tasseled whips
Blood pours out battered limbs,
into the cobble streets.
Another un finished piece, even if you have a bad comment please post it. Really really would love any type of feedback

Hi Cynthia, thanks for your message, so glad you shared it! I think the Freud book you referred to was The Interpretation of Dreams. My God, even I've never felt brave enough to tackle that one. I enjoyed the psychodynamic psychology element of my training but Freud's books can be heavy going. Perhaps a Wiki page or two is enough to chew over.
And thank you so much for the lovely words about 'Sweet Victory for the Solemn'.
Always good to hear from you and a massive thanks for your continued encouragement.
Paul

I forgot that you are a psychologist. I remember remarking to someone, perhaps here on line, but not sure anymore, that I had found an old beat-up copy of Freud's Dreams (whatever the actual title). I was thrilled. And I set to with great interest and intent to LEARN A LOT.
But I floundered after a while, after much acute attention and thinking. More than floundered, I became belligerent, followed by disgusted, and then I just pitched it. (I can't believe I did it, but I did. Still haunts me. I remember being actually angry.) Thing is - I don't know whether I wasn't smart enough to understand it; or smart enough to discard it.
I kind of wish I had another copy. To test myself again. My grand-daughter's studies in YR 12 certainly seem to have all positive assertions about Freud's Dream Ideas. No negativity allowed. This has been on my mind for years. I hope you don't mind my sharing it.
'A Sweet Victory for the Solemn' is mind-crashing.
