Wash Cycle

The slosh of the washing machine

reminds me of waves lapping at the shore

makes me want to take off my shoes

and wade barefoot

toes tickled by the warm water

the gentle sound of waves

tossed by the Tide

forever slapping the shore

that steady beat

that gentle drone

puts me to sleep

awakened only by

the washers beep signal

telling me the cycle is done

the seas have parted

and the ocean has gone

down the drain.

Will we get something on the humble tumble drier? And I remember some lines from the past (elsewhere) about a vacuum cleaner that
"beats as it sweeps as it cleans". surely begging for poetical
inspiration. Well done for putting "fantastic" into "domestic" -
avoiding the drudgery of "kirchen sink" drama ! ?.

I remember your other poem "Sewing Machine". If that gave a glimpse in the sweet memories of childhood, this one gives rise to pure imagination. Good one!

d.k.,

A good poem but you forgot the "fast forward" when the waves beat furiously against the shore and sleep is impossible.

Thanks for this

Keith
