Golden Days Gone-By

It was good to hear you laugh again

When i called you on the phone

For it took me back to days gone by

When the bushland was our home.

The bush became our homestead

It mothered us as well

And we would laugh each day away

Till the years began to tell.

Remember the station truck we bogged

In the middle of the night?

When you stepped in a muddy hole

And s...

OLD TREE

You gave to me your very best old tree

Since the day i planted you

The drought has knocked you round a bit

You managed to pull through

The local kids come and swing

Upon your gnarled old limbs

A Gospel Country Group would arrive

On sunday to sing hymns

We had lots of cook out Barbeques in your

Then it began to rain

Of course it put my fire out

THE FRUIT GROWER'S LAMENT

I thought I'd be an orchardist

And me of the impatient Kind

They went in rather rough.

I thought then if I worked real hard

One day I could relax

And being primary producer,

Well - it would cut down on my tax.

My avoca...

MY MOUSE

I live on two acres in a big white house

But you see I'm never lonely

Because I have my mouse

He runs across the lounge room floor

While I'm watching telly

Straight into the kitchen

Then to fill his little belly

Sometimes he'll stand on his hind legs

I guess it's just to show me

It's just to show he knows me

I don't know where he really lives

Or wh...

MY CAMPFIRE GUITAR

My friend thinks that I'm a nut,

That this time I've gone too far,

You see I'm pushing twenty seven now,

And I've bought a new guitar.

It's not a real expensive brand,

Like Martin, that's for sure.

"Made in Korea" I think it reads,

In some little town obscure.

The other guitar i had,

Well - I buried it today.

A heavy tool box fell on it,

on a rough track.
