August 27: Just Because Day Lingering as the Train Departs (sonnet) Leviathan of cylinder and steel, disdainful, bullish, horns against the earth, expelling fumes and fuss and rage, surreal seductress, soul of Cyclops in rebirth. An empty station, oily carbon stink enhanced by crematory summers past, the timeworn travel pews the only link between the iron-bound iconoclast and dapper gents and wives in holiday attire. The train is soon a memory, receding like the plumes of ghostly gray that curl away in secret, aimlessly, amidst the distant plaintive wailing hymn, and I'm suspended on the interim.
