The shop fronts are bordered up where only weeks ago a town sparked with life,
Deserted streets people no longer content to roam.
Ghosts of the riot prowl the corners,
A wall of rememberance thoughts of a City that was once great.
Touching messages from a loved one,
Quotes from the words of stars, do they understand their meaning or is it just a repeated parroted back phrase...

crocus buds burst forth
peep and poke through dunes of white
winter bows to spring
when the sun begins to shine again
life's vital truths made clear at road's end

Hope is ...
Carried away on ocean tides.
surround the lighthouse.
Sometimes wounds bleed a darker red,
staining blurred snippets of memory,
from impoverished depths.
Bubbles rise to the surface
pouring out bottled tears.
Rotating light shines,
illuminating the edges of sadness.
Waiting to rescue lost souls
and abandoned ...

There are days
that songs are stifled
or the throat hoarse and weary
No more do notes glide softly -
raking leaves strewn across
the littered lawn
their butterfly wings
hung up in the wait
for another sunny day.
There are nights
that stars squander
on unappreciative lovers
roaming listlessly by
a moonlit shore
their brilliant points
