You’re writing in your notebook again

I lean over your shoulder, take a peek at what you’re scribbling

You’re painting a picture of salty tears running down her face

As you watch the waves settle back into place

 

A shiver runs down my leg,

I write because
It is my opportunity
To speak
With my own voice.
To just be.... me.

I write because
I hunger
Not to compel
Or inspire or entertain.

I just hunger
To make sense
Of the world around me.
