Mark, thank you for your welcome input on Berkley Square.
I have not written much in the way of parodies before.
I can see there is an unending supply of material...
However, do you think it cheating or being lazy using other's talent to feather your own nest (excuse the pun)?
btw. this is not a rhetorical comment.
I have to say I did enjoy writing this and have often decided not to take the rise out of some really highbrow musings and song lyrics in the past.

MC one could write a wonderful poem just by reciting about some of London's better known streets - where the Guardsmen fell down due to tension and heat. Thanks for commenting. Appreciated. P.

Hi MC - Antenna - fascinating little things are they not? I remember when my Dad took us to live in the Isle of Man after the war and seeing a swarm of them piece-meal attacking an earthworm - not a pretty sight. Appreciated your comments though. Thanks. P.

The Chinese knew about it and said nothing.
Mon 13th Apr 2020 01:40
It's not Capitalism that is at fault,
it's the damn Chinese who withheld the truth
and for all we know actually let loose the virus
from their Bio lab.
As for Gates, he is a typical Globalist,
who will do anything to keep his Chinese market share.
Guess who holds the "patent" for CoronaVirus?
Wed 8th Apr 2020 04:04
it's just that so much of it is garbage.
it's like people just throw words together
whether they make any sense or not
and then call it poetry.
Mon 6th Apr 2020 09:56
we need to quarantine those who actually HAVE the Virus
and let the rest of the people go back to work.
If not, we are talking about a Global Depression.

did not know that about the Western
and the character saying he was named "Bluebonnet".
Wasn't that strange.
Yes, the Bluebonnet is our state flower
and in the springtime, they bloom all over in great seas of blue!

Hi MC and thank you for your recent comment on one of my poems. Truth is I can't pin-point the particular piece you mean as my poetry has been rolling off the production line just lately. If you could guide me to the spot a little more, I would happily look at it again and respond accordingly. Thanks. P.

The reality is combined with the poetical to fine effect in these lines.
Close by as I write is a photograph of my maternal uncle Ernest
Valentine Venner - in shirtsleeves, hands thrust in the pockets of
riding breeches, gazing steadfastly at the early 20th century camera lens with all the seriousness of youthful military maturity....soon to die
in combat in WW1. He is that reminder that we are all due to die in
one way or another.
Why do we use this phrase when we see, hear something great or bad.
I digressed I love your descriptivist comment MC

I did not really have a heart attack.
the poem however did cause Others

Hi Mark, sorry, I've just seen your comment on my profile. I think you're onto something there for sure. Got to look for the positives and share and amplify those thoughts and feelings; especially, as you say, in the face of the modern culture of negativity. Wise words indeed. Cheers, Tom.

Hi MC re Tempest. First of all thank you for your detailed response, and secondly how interesting your previous places of abode. Sadly the former sites of Police Stations are now but history - I have often shared your interest in them. I once read a poem of a former Bobby from days when Shooters Hill was closed - the main lament being the banter going on between Bobbies and the canteen staff. The canteen culture seemed to be the glue keeping everything together. It is an era now sadly lacking - especially as facilities now have to be shared with council offices - where the canteens are supposed to be appropriate places for shared experiences of the grimmest kind. Let's hope there is an upturn and pretty soon at that. P. 👍
