Hello Larisa,
"The Good and the English".
It's a joke, really. Although the English and the Scots are united as British, England and Scotland have fought each other for nearly 2000 years. The last battle between England and Scotland was at Culloden in 1745. When England play Scotland at football or rugby, the Scots till refer to England as "The Old Enemy".

'Ey up, youth.
Glad you liked "Everybody's Gone Serfin'". I think you can get it at HMV.
I know what you mean about "If you don't want slaughtered". When I've performed it I change it to "You could end up slaughtered". Her Majesty agreed it was preferable.

I'm not sure I like the fortress either. Sorry to be so opinionated! These would be my suggestons: 'The Rack' 'Waters of Lethe' 'Cold Hell' or you could leave it as it is. Others will probably disagree with me and I might disagree with myself tomorrow.

Yes, you are right about "Depression" title. Thanks.
I had thought of calling it The Castle but reckoned that was too Kafkaesque. Might settle on The Fortress

Ann - just a couple of things I wanted to say to you and keep forgetting! Firstly - bloody well done on setting up the open mic night, that's fantastic. I am thinking of setting one up myself in St Helens as we don't have one here, so if I do, I'll be in touch with you! Second - congrats on the radio show :D Oh, and there's a third and fourth - your poetry has come on in leaps and bounds since I've been a member on here (been nice seeing each other's stuff improve), and that's a cracking photie of you! :D
Take care, have a lovely xmas break, Laura xxx

No, don't delete FOAD. It's far better than any of that stylised rap 'n' rant stuff that gets put on here. Besides when a chap asks for a Herman Hermits CD he doesn't deserve to be mocked by some pimply grot.

Nigel is THE funniest, sharpest lyricist ever - and I LOVE the sheer amount of musical and lyrical references he packs in :D
For shame, I won't be going on Saturday. Me chap's band are playing their crimbo gig in Llangollen so will be going to that instead, but it was a verrry close decision.

And...don't know where you live chuck, but Half Man Half Biscuit are playing the Manchester Ritz this Saturday :) Nice venue - went to see Alabama 3 there the other week. Do you keep an eye on their website? (www.hmhb.co.uk) They update it with gig listings every now and again :) Nice to chat to a fellow fan! :D I've seen em bloody loads of times...even made my own Joy Division Oven Gloves to take to a gig once heh. *no shame*
Thanks again for commenting on She's Mine Tonight...written the day after the night before ;) And the club really did disappear.

'Lady'? Humph. What are you implying sir? Hello MC. Thanks for your thoughts on Haddlesey Bells. No, this isn't the one we did for the school. That's called "Together" and is in the process of being recorded by a local singer. I'll post that when it's ready.
I agree with you about the unnecessary repetition of the last chorus. (A little too much of a good thing, I think!) In fact Our Gert suggesed deleting the entire song!

Hi Isobel
Whilst I am still trying to figure out whether I am more like cystitis, constipation or thrush, I thought I should thank you for your kind comment ;-)) on Inevitable
This is, to some extent, what was going through my mind waiting for 6:30
But am I the only person who is immediately convinced that everything that is on the 'good' horizon, is bound to get fucked up?
Get the inevitable out of the way, and then you can get on with 'normal' life
I took the liberty of excluding myself from the list of candidates to be likened to a period. I think I'm more of an irritant than a curse. But you can correct me if I'm wrong ;-)))))))))))))))

Hello fellow Neutral Milk Hotel fan!! Wow, that's a rarity. I meet so few people who are into them! I mentioned them to Winston on here and he got the album and got RIGHT into it :D I never had a favourite album in a lifetime's worth of music obsession...so that shows you how pretty bloody special it is!
Jeff Mangum's around and about these days you know, he was supposed to be curating an ATP but as far as I can tell it's all gone tits up. Ticket price was ridiculous though.
If I hear of him playing any gigs, I'll give you a shout :)
