Hi Cynthia, thanks very much for your comments on Song of the Ofsted Inspectors. Always morale-boosting to see you looking in. As for Plato, well ... I have to confess that I dropped out of philosophy after one year at uni. Maybe it's time I gave him another look. Greg

Thanks for the comment on follow the Herd.
I had somehow missed reading/listening to yours and just been catching up on them - totally knocked me out. That last one of yours when part through I realised who the boy was, that was a shock.

Thank you (Touching the Void. I think, Anthony, that I may have repeated myself because it was the subject chosen for a writing excercise, and I didn't even know I was doing it. Well spotted and commented on. :)

Hi Cynthia, 'Not Guilty as Charged'. Much appreciate the comments. A lot of ground covered in a relatively short space here and, the 'i' in my first stanza supposedly represents the detached observer over aeons of time. CHEERS.

Hi Win. Just to add a little rider to Dark Nights. My Mum told me that my grandad once dropped his false teeth down the tippler and fished them out with a stick ,cleaned them up with boiling water and put them back in!
It didn't affect him 'cos he lived to a good age but he did talk a load of shit though! Ha! Ha!

Hi Tracey - welcome to WOL. I see you've braved the blogs! I think poems on the blog section get more individual attention if you post one and give it a chance to sit there for a while, and hopefully get some comments, before you post the next one. Hope you don't mind me saying - it's up to you of course :)

Thanks Isobel for comment on Touching the Void - a bit of an odd poem really that maybe I should have explained. The title was for a writing exercise at my writer's group. And it made me think of a Cornish artist called Peter Lanyon who I really admire. He died in a gliding accident in the 1960s. There's a far better poem about him by W.S. Graham called "The Thermal Stair". The image I've used to go with the poem is a painting by him.

Just one criticism. You need to improve your woodworking skills,(the chair)

Thanks for your appreciation of my little effort.

Privet Mike! Thank you very much for your kind words!

Smile! Let the troubles fly away!
Let the sunbeam with you to stay!
Let it bring you the warmth!
Let you overcome the storms!

Smile! Let the mists melt!
Let only love be felt!
Let you forgive all wrongs!
Let revive beautiful songs!

Smile! Let you believe in yourself!
Let the world be your wealth!
Let you be loved so much!
Let you feel your friends touch!

Hi, Chris, thanks for your comments on Song of the Ofsted Inspectors. The process reflects distrust, and it often demoralises. I do wonder whether the current agenda is to undermine state education across the board. Watch that Michael Gove; he doesn't say much, but he's doing a lot behind the scenes, secret emails, and the like. Never trust a former journalist!
Good memories of our meeting at Hebden Bridge. Hope to see you again some day. Greg

Thanks for that Chris - I'm glad you could hear that inner voice. I struggled with the word 'gullibility'. For me it really doesn't flow or sound poetic. Unfortunately there was no other word for it and as with all my work, meaning and inner voice took precedence over poetry...

We all had great fun with that bubble - I must post some pictures to FB. It made a hell of a mess of the kitchen floor though :)

Hope to see you at the Tudor next week. x
