No need to apologise - I rarely take offence. Trying to square up - bit of a wimp, always worrying about upsetting other people, now trying to consider if they're upsetting me. Sorry to hear you find me intimidating, maybe just too intense? :-)

I think there's some sort of telepathy thing going on here - last week when I was playing with some lines around the theme of ' You took my music from me & now I want it back, y'bastard!' - you posted your musically based 'Fat Elvis'. And this week I've been scribbling my 'Men! Can't live with 'em! Can't shoot 'em!' verse, and here you are pipping me to the post again with your mcp rap! Hey ho - back to the drawing board.
Just to warn you - next week I'm probably going with the themes of visiting relatives for Christmas, and maybe a rousing chorus of If you think my family's barmy - take a look at yours. 'Tis the season to be jolly, after all.

Hi Winston,
And thanks for your comments on "testament." Much appreciated. I haven't got to grips with posting audio files quite yet, but thanks to help from cjd I seem to be heading in the right direction. I can certainly imagine from reading your "BIG TIME" poem why that Peter Gabriel vid would havce inspired you - one of my favourites too.
Regards

Thanks for your comments about 'Daisy'.
I am trying to get audio on myself - I've been told you need a mic and a sound card (which apparently my computer already had) and a free downloadable programme called 'Audacity'. So far I've managed to record well enough but I'm having difficulty converting them to mp3 - do you know anyone who is good with computers (most 5 year olds it seems)?
Good luck!

Hi Alain,
thanks for your reply. Since i sent you a message, a different friend of mine has a brother who's just been diagnosed Aspergers.
Thanks to your information i've been able to point her in the right direction for a better understanding of his condition.
It just shows to me how nothing is ever wasted in this life. I've never been so thankful for being a member of write out loud as i am right now.
Love and light, Janet.x

Thank-you! Probably won't get round to reading it aloud - sadly live quite a way from the Manchester area, and also am very nervous about performing my own stuff! - If anybody wants to give it a go for me though - I'd be delighted! - would love to know how it's received. On Pete Crompton's advice I've gone and got a mic - and just as soon as I figure out how the thing works, I'll maybe voice up a piece or two -it's a start!
Thanks again,
Cx

Hi Alain,
There's a friend of mine doing some research into Aspergers. I've directed her to your profile on this site. She'll most likely email you for help.
I've found your blogs extremely interesting to read and very informative.
You're a brave man. I admire that.
Love and light to you, Janet.x

Thanks for your comments - pleased you like one. Completely take your point about enactment rather than exposition - was trying to draw together salt, sweet, bitter - obviously not quite to your taste ( yeah, ok - obvious pun). When I logged on earlier today I saw a song you had written, which I thought looked interesting. I didn't have the time to read it properly or comment, and now I've come back - I can't find it. Did I imagine it? was it not yours? Am I seeing things? Can you answer these pointless questions?

No need to apologise - it's an excellent piece, and I think, I am not alone (on here!) in using poetry as a sort of therapy. Do you know the song Everybody Hurts by REM? - it tends to get sung in an angsty way, but if you listen to the lyrics it is actually saying ... get over it for God's sake - you're not unique!
Does everybody know what S N A F U means, do you think?
I agree about spreading the love and the smiles and I'm taking the tablets in order to keep doing so!
Commiserations about the golf course, but keep that grin fixed!

I don't think there is a way to get them back .... :-)

Thanks Steve, and if I get someone sacked for laughing, I will burst with pride - people getting sacked while reading that poem was probably what the city analysts had in mind when they were predicting 2 million unemployed by the end of the year.
Paul - who knows? Maybe I was, maybe we all were. Maybe that's how we got here.

Whilst reading antonioni's Salford poem I came across your very own Salford poem.
It made me laugh out loud. At work. I found myself on the receiving end of strange looks.
One day they'll sack me. Probably. You'll be responsible. Partially.
I'm intrigued by your biography and find myself breathless with anticipation, waiting for the inevitable masterpiece about a peaceful puppy's love for flowers. You wouldn't lie in your biography, would you?
Keep up the good work. And the bad work (important!). I'd hate to think that any aspect of your life could be thrown out of balance.

Yes. I suggest you go right back to the basics young man, and start again. You are obviously one of these experimental Johnnies, and there is nothing wrong with that as long as it's done in the privacy of your own home. You may find my 'recipe for an experimental poem' will be of some help. I have posted it on the rhyme thread of the discussion forum. You, and other young poets (I can tell you're a mere whippersnapper by your daguerrotype), will probably find my guidance very beneficial.

Rather annoyingly, that's fair comment on the Chechen chickens one. Even more annoyingly, that is the one "poem" that I have managed to sell more times than any other poems I have sold, and for the most money in any one sale too!

Bloody rubbish! I can't believe people are showering praise on this unadulterated ordure. If I had a pound for every time I had heard some half-arsed performance poet spouting about 'Chechen chickens' I'd have £17.37 by now. It doesn't even rhyme or scan properly. It's people like you who bring the world of poetry into disrepute. If I had my way you'd be sent away to fillet fresh fish fignons in Fiji or mince migratory mackerel morsels in Madagascan motel mezzanines.
The 'object' one was ok, though.

Hello Steve. So sorry to keep missing Freed Up, because I really do love it. I do keep telling people how good it is, tho...
You read the 'bankers' poem at the Deaf Institute gig, didn't you? I know I've seen you read it recently-ish, and loved it. One of the best readings I've seen you do.
Thank you for the foxy comment. It's one of my favourites, and worked quite well considering it was written in about half an hour. I do quite like foxes, even tho they ate our chickens.
Well, their heads...
But it's ok, cos now we have more chickens. Hurrah!

Hi Gus, to answer your question. A place called Rutherglen (A borough at one point) on the edge of the city centre. Comes under South Lanarkshire. I love Edinburgh too. Used to go there a lot. I keep intending to go to the open mic nights in Glasgow when I visit the family. Maybe this December I'll make a special effort. It's bound to be full of interesting and strong characters I'm sure!
