Hello Val - we haven't met before but I enjoyed taking a peek at some of your poetry. Could particularly identify with 'Good Mother' - that is something I often worry about. Also loved My Hearts Triumphant Cry - it reminds me of the first time I was able to buy a take away for the family instead of having to cook - not something I do often but the luxury of being able to and the choosing - the simple things in life eh?
Bye for now. Isobel xx

Thanks Tomas,
I wrote it in response to a short snatch of a song I heard on the radio. I don't like being pigeon-holed and patronised, especially by Labour politicans who have totally lost touch with the origins of the party.

Thank you for your comment on 'What's it all about' - probably the deepest thing i've ever written - not sure I'll ever be able to follow it up! I guess it does sit well next to your poem 'Those who faught on that side' which also really makes you think. Would like to read more of your stuff but I shouldn't be on here at all - have a wedding to go to and I'm still in my Jimmies aaaaahhhhhh.
See you again no doubt. Isobel x

Read your Impure Wool poem. I tend to think too much impure wool could make you a bit 'itchy' and more than a little sweaty. A very funny poem that dare I say it had me in stitches ..groan groan!

Nope! Sorry Isobel - I have no idea how to 'drive' this site properly. It seems like a labyrinth with lots of interconnections. I can't find an idiots guide anywhere. I'll just have to go on posting on 'samples' (I did wonder why it said that). Are you still following Isobel, Lauretta? If you are: glad you liked the rudeness. It is actually a satirical device - I hope I don't get stuck on it!
Lots of thanks to you both.

Barrie - you've given me such a laugh! And you have scored a first - you are the first man ever to write me a love poem - awwwww - I will treasure it for ever - even if I did have to share it with one other! I did wonder if you knew how to post a blog cos you seem to have rather a lot of sample poetry in your profile. To the right of where you log in you can submit a blog - these poems tend to get read by people looking at fresh stuff but don't all show constantly on your profile - they tend to get commented on more also - which is also nice. Forgive me if I'm telling you what you already know - it took me a while to fathom things out. I do think you should blog some poetry though - it all reads so well and you are obviously very talented.

Dear ladies! I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is I will post another funny for you after wrting this - the bad news is that I have no idea about blogs and paper clips on here. (Isobel seems to have paper-clipped a blog to her profile - isn't that an offence under New Labour?) I am so pleased to have your delight and approval - thank you.

Anthony - apologies. I have only just registered your very full approval of my stuff. So I have taken a look at yours - 'like you do' (:o). I see we share the 'human condition' as a spur. I find 'Phoenix' particularly arresting, and overall, feel you use language evocatively (Oh help - is that a word?) and have a nice turn of phrase. I think your style is more acceptable to the modern judges taste than mine, so you should be winning prizes soon - if not already. All the best. Barrie

Gus LOL... Yes the Marsh Marigold is apparently locally known as the Bulrush. Someoneonce told me that this confusion started with a famous painting of moses in the bulrushes which featured the reedmace. It was the actual basket that was made from the bulrush which is commonly employed in basket weaving. Regards, Win x

Hello Daniel, thank you for commenting on Delilah's Courage. I have to tread carefully here, as it was a response to a poem my wife wrote. She is a very private woman who spends a lot of time on her own just contemplating all manner of things. She is a very deep and spiritual person. She wrote a poem that i came upon, and i was so impressed it invoked in me a glance (sometimes rare), into her soul. I asked her could i put the poem in the blogs and she said no. So i wrote a work of fiction in response to her poem, as her poem reminded me of the lead lady from the book - The Story of 'O.' Because of the confinement the leading character was in. We dont practise such sado masochistic rituals as are in the novel, but it did imbue upon me the restrictions in the novel that the woman endured. It also has an element of our own chaste life, because resources are currently low, we are somewhat imprisoned in our own home, and for this, i feel foolish because we cannot do more, and i feel like her Jailer when in fact im not. it is in essence a work of fiction, with a little input, from our own current situtation, and, it is also a response to the work in, The Story of O. Okay, it is very sensitive, and it does say a lot. The skinny is, not to apply it too stringently to mine and my wife's situation. The poem that fuelled my imagination i will give you now. But if you ever meet my wife, you cannot say that i put it in here. I'm taking a big risk, but i feel it is a good one, because my wifes poetry, often knocks the spots off mine. I have to try to write, with herself, her writings seem more natural. Here is the poem that inspired me to write Delilah's Courage, it is my wife's poem, handle with care. You're a poet, and because of that, and haveing read your work, i know you will treat it with the sensitivity it is written.
The girl sat there,
She sat there staring at the walls,
Walls that kept her -
Day and night.
Walls that shield her from the
Insanity of human kind;
With nothing beyond to learn,
But within herself.
Thats her most recent poem, i have let you read it as i know you will treat it with respect. If you dont, im diggin up my SLR lol.
Seriously though daniel. I was really touched and although my own poem could have been more personal, i chose to distract it with something based on fiction, that perhaps could be seen as a response. I think you get the picture. I like your work Daniel, very thoughtful prose. Keep em coming blue, and be well.
Mike.

How stupid am I? Thought i'd share this one with you cos it made me laugh. When you sign off you comments you always put win. I thought you were saying that the poem was a good one and that 'win' was your way of saying it. It always made me chuckle cos you used the expression a lot - have only just got it. Am I ever so slightly mad? Don't you just love the English language?

Hi Winston, Thanks for commenting on my poem. Just wanted to let you know that I wasn't criticising Malpoet's poem. I thought it was very clever - I just found it really hard to read. I have 4 very beautiful children - so I find stuff like that really hard to deal with. Perhaps i didn't explain myself well enough. I totally agree that it was a well crafted poem.

Hi rodney,
I found one really good poetry nite near to where I live but there aren't all that many places for live poetry in north wales either unfortunately. Luckily i'm not to far from liverpool so I venture over there when i can & i'm moving to London in sept so I'll hopefully find a few nights down there cos ye performing in front of people is amazing. i get nervous as hell every time but I love every second of being up there and so to win a slam the other night was absolutely brilliant. was a huge pat on the back and has really encouraged me to carry on writing and performing.
I think that this site is a brilliant way of sharing your poetry and reading other peoples stuff though I have just gotten lost for several hours reading other peoples poems and comments and should really get on with something productive haha. I have read your sample poems. I thought they were really good and could imagine them lending themselves to a performance really well.
Thanks for leaving a comment is always good to hear from somebody who has a passion for poetry. good luck with it and keep in touch.
