hi steve,

thanks for your lovely comments on my poem 'theme:cruelty'. Sadly is a true story behind the poem but I won't bore you with that!

I really like your 'love's lost curage'-fantastic! didn't know it was easy to find love in new brighton! - my mum's family are all from Wallasey!

Hi Winston

Thanks for your comments on Lost & Found. It IS strange how much significance can attach to a simple band of metal. I wonder if Tolkien wore a wedding ring.
I hope we meet one day, it would be good to hear you live. Well done for venturing on to Youtube

.hello steve.....I don't understand your comment...I'm simply saying that if man disappears from the Earth there'll be no 'religion' or 'time'.....they're both 'man-made' ideas...you've interpreted something that's not there.......cheers for commenting.

Steven,
Loved ur two poems last night at the Tudor, especially the Work related one! I've actually done one in a similar vein myself,as have a couple of others at Write Out Loud,so it seems we're not alone in our frustrations! Haha

hi jeff,

thanks for your feedback- i always like to hear what other poets have to say about my poems.
I like your style too it is a little like mine in that you like it to rthyme (is that how you spell it?) it is never deliberate.

I am afraid I do not have enough attention to detail to change wonder for wander- although I wish i had. Just bad spelling on my part I think.

I like your poem darker skies and the bit about just another baby to add to the list. It reminded me of this baby p business and how there are 30 kids a week dying at the hands of negelgent carers but they never make the press and no one knows about them. A tragedy.

Anyway on that happy note.

Hope to see you at the green room sometime. Cheers Emma

Hi Jeff - thanks for your comment - yes it went a lot better last night. Re Southport - have had a rethink - have cleared my head and probably will make it. My friend would really like to hear me read so don't give my spot away. How many am I allowed to do? Would kind of like to do 3 but will restrict it to one if you are short of time...

Hi Steven,
And welcome to WOL. It's a friendly place here and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Probably the best way to break the ice is to leave a comment or two on the blog section for poems you have enjoyed reading - or get involved in the discussion forums.

I like the repetition of the familiar phrase in your "The Death Of Me" - interesting to see it used more literally here, and I identify completely with "I Hate My Job!"

Have fun,

Regards,
A.E.

Morning John
Just to let you know that I went to Huddersfield, as suggested. All being well, the bruises should be gone in a day or two.
I quite enjoyed it, but I don't know whether I am now more aware of my own inadequacies as a writer.
Thanks for the push though

Thanks for my welcome home! Yes, I was surprised to hear a few Northern vowels in your accent. I am the same - have spent most of my life away from the North, but never lost the accent from my formative years - just the 'lewk, bewk' sound cos I got sick of people taking the mick. Loved your new poem, as did my sis, who was discussing it with me this morning...

Thankyou Anthony and drat! i had sprinkling in there but changed it 'cos i had visions of a sprinkler system on a lawn :-)

And yes to a degree, your description of the card is quite suitable. Just for reference, i don't use drugs, prescriptive or otherwise and i learned a long time ago to my cost that alcohol in large quantities do not mix well with an intuitive/psychic. :-)

May i suggest you look up the Temperance card? You can do the 'home-work' yourself, i'm sure you're more than capable. :-)
(Sometimes i like to allow people their little games and mild deceptions. They only hurt themselves in the long run.)

Hi Cynthia
I thank you for reading 'Silence'. Do I look so old/serious that I am Mr.?
The 'I' is me, and perhaps could be described as suffering from slight/occasional emotionally disability.
The 'nothing' is the euphoria from the silence that follows unwanted wittering, where all that I can hear is the ticking of the clock, counting down.
I'm truly chuffed that you enjoyed the 'poem'. It seems I have reached at least 2 people, and that is all I could wish for.
Thanks again

Hi Anthony
Thanks for taking the time to look at my 'poem'. Most of my 'white noise' comes from the fruit of my loins, and in turn, theirs.
Many folk seem unable to hold a conversation without using their own particular trade-talk.
I think I sort of understand/empathise with 'John'. Before her death, my wife had suffered 30+ years of MS, taking away most things that we all take for granted, and all she really wanted was to have someone to be there for her.
Thanks again
Steve M.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for comments on "John." I'm surprised some people seemed to struggle with all the clues in there. It's a reflection on the son of a friend who enriches social gatherings so much with his warmth, enthusiasm and innocence. He's a really lovely lad and it's heartbreaking to think that in times past so many "special people" were shut off from society when they have so much to offer. But, from your response I obviously don't need to tell you this.
Regards,
A.E.
