Ta Win, ( my ghazal)- I never could count past ten - should have taken my slippers off! ;-) Your words are very very much appreciated. I do love the form, and I feel that poetic language is neccessary for it to really work. I love the yearning quality. I have now thought of several phrases to make more ghazals - just need to write them! Look forward to more of yours. I really thought your last poem was stupendous! xx

Thanks for you comment on Two Litre Capri. I think you can see why it doesn't work on paper.

Thank you for your generous comment on my latest Ann. I don't think my poetry is out of the ordinary in terms of poetry - I just know how to move people and sometimes it's just about sharing emotions. I'm way behind on all my reading of others and feeling guilty but I'll be child free next week so plan on doing plenty of reading and banter! Will no doubt cross paths. Isobel x

Ann, Re Ghazal (just before dawn) there are supposed to be 10 syllables in each line. But I have counted 'hour' as having two. Struggled to decide how many there were in hour, maybe normally one but in yorkshire two! Win

Ann, thanks for your kind words. I'm taking a break from WOL for at least a month, then I'll see. I overreacted re my poem but I think I was looking for the excuse. I use another poetry site and I'm gonna concentraye on that for a while. In contrast to WOL that site suffers from too few punters, though the standard of writing and criticism is higher, in general. There is just so much on WOL!There is more pressure on my time at the moment so summat has to give.Perhaps see you next year. Again, thanks.

Anyhoo - you've created a little piece of brilliance to add to this world - I think you should celebrate tonight with a nice jug o'porter ;)

Hi there Ann, yes we have about 4 inches of snow but as we live on a main road out to the M62 it is well gritted and clear. So is the motorway. Amazingly you can now look at the camera views of moroway junctions online, showing the state of the road 4 mins ago. Even so we decided not to go to manchester last night. Its heavy there too, and the side roads become difficult. Ow! all this chatter and no poetry-speak in it. I will get told off. Keep warm. We are in mid winter, moonwise, and the moon of Ice emerges from the sun's glow on Sunday afternoon so I don't think it will get warmer yet.

I did mean it about Cynthia; your poem was salutary, necessary and original as the anniversary wave washes over us. A wake-up call; a shock of cold water. But of course it may been rather off-message as far as the judges were concerned. Who knows? If he'd stayed with Cynthia perhaps he would have continued to write more great songs. I always resented Yoko for apparently breaking up the band. But on the other hand she made him happy. I'm just obsessed with Lennon, and the contradictions involving art and life that he represents, and, of course, the Sixties and the associations and memories his music evokes; his 'cheek' that was really anger; always have been, always will be.

Thanks for your lovely comment Dave.
We went into IKEA in Ashton under Lyne and it was exactly the same as your poem. Horrors, and also we only just got to the exit in time to purchase the ruddy bookcase we went in for. Nearly had to run for it. Not too far from Blackburn to Sowerby Bridge you know. Fancy coming to the Puzzle Hall some time? Not, perhaps, in the snow.

We absolutely loved OZ - both the cities and the countryside. A bit pricey, though, given the strength of the Ozzie dollar against poor pathetic sterling! Still, I'd rather bask in 30+ degrees of heat in Brisbane than be snowbound here in Grimsby. Maybe that's why they all seem pretty cheerful over there, whereas here it's all moans and groans and feeling sorry for ourselves!
