Laura, hi, thanks for your comments on the 'silence' poem, yes you are right about 'nice' but hey the word is also for 'Nice' biscuits! which, when dunked are suprisingly good, you just gotta get the timing right!

thanks again, one day i'll work out what the poem was about! :-)

Dave, thanks for the feedback on the 'silence' poem, it seemed a popular one, I wonder wether to go into in more detail as theres hidden layers, I'm real happy you liked it, I know you have to endure all the ranting at Wigan, so I'm happy to show you this side of the coin, sorry that our chat was only brief at Tudor, you slipped the net and I missed your reading, hope to see you soon, Spotlight or Wigan hopefully. Now its warmign up I may get out a bit more. Peter.

Yes, Dave, I've heard that too, that Towton involved the greatest loss of life on an English battlefield. It's a pity there's not more there to commemorate it other than the single monument. I think the time lapse renders it safe to make a monologue.

Hi Steve - thanks for your comment. You are a trooper coming to the Tudor - testimony to just what a great venue it is! Thanks for doing the Jump poem for me - it is very original - amazing what we can make out of little experiences like that - though if I'd known it was a real life story originally, I probably wouldn't have chuckled quite so much! I won't be compering next month - so I shall be even more rat arsed - unless I draw the driving short straw.
Look forward to catching up. xx

Hi there Anthony, long time no speak! Thanks for the comment on Uncle Ned. I enjoyed the links you sent me... thanks. I have an old vinal record of The Fivepenny Piece, a couple of The Oldham Tinkers. We used to sing quite a few of their songs in the bad old days so Im familiar with all their work.
I agree with you that our old dialect songs and poems should be treasured. I was doing some research a while back into the origins of our Lancashire dialect, and its quite fascinating. Most of our Lancashire dialect words come directly from the old Anglo Saxon, with a big input from old Viking.
Such a rich heritage should be preserved as much as possible and in as many ways as possible.

TBH - they're all damn good (first 10 I reckon - read all 10 at least 3 times) apart from the last 2 which are Magical Passes & The Wheel of Time - both of which are like an afterthought, after the event & rather crappy IMHO.BTW - they used peyote/mescaline, datura, psilocybes & other stuff as well.
I've never had a huge dick dream - no need, if ya get my drift ;) B

Aye - was pretty incredible that dream.

I have always wanted to fly, btw, right from being a kid. I went on my first plane flight at the grand old age of 28, in a noisy ole propeller plane to Belfast, and wept with happiness and euphoria the entire time there and back *shame* :D

Still can't go on a plane without pressing nose to window on take off, and I'm one of those rare individuals who positively enjoy turbulence :)

Thanks for your interest in Touch Wood, Cynthia. The title was a writing group homework. I came across the story of the whipping yew while away for a couple of days on the Welsh borders. We found the actual tree, and could see how it had been used. The thought of people being left there all night was horrible. As I wrote the poem it dawned on me that the fellow was innocent of the crime for which he was being punished, but maybe guilty of other, unconfessed misdeeds that had been preying on his mind for a long time. Whether the burden was lifted - or whether he was still alive, or sane at the end of it - I don't know!

Hello Anthony!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on
'Berry Bridge'... It is a very special poem that was written for and influenced by someone very dear to me...
(I had deleted all of my other poems from 2010 in a fit of anger and sadness).

The Berry Bridge is a real place... but can also be any other place you so desire ; )

Hmmm... My secrets...?
I am extremely optimistic.
I am confident.
I am driven. : )

hi laura, thanks for your feedback on the list.
I've removed the poem as I don't like to catalogue all my work..just give it an airing and get some feedback. its not often i have a piece that i think is finished.
i am bitter and my poems are all streaked with ascerbicity (good word!) Anyway i have a place i go to to write good poems, from the heart so to speak, but its so heavy i fear its morbid outpourings. hence writing more cerebral stuff that allows a dispassionate view. its just this writing lacks depth and seems to be mainly of interest only to myself.
anyway i might rework the other poem but will be more likely to just write something else. maybe this time from the spleen and really get the bile flowing.
i respect your opinion so thanks again x
