Dear Harry,
thank you for going through "brand new start".....i appreciate your sincere comment....your deep connection to my feelings shows that you are connected to God Almighty....i started to write this poem with the intention of thanking Allah, despite all the tests, tribulations and worries, we have so much to thank Him for. Lord (Rabb) is a reference to Allah Almighty. we as muslims love Jesus (peace be upon him), we respect him as an honourable messenger of God.
this poem is a sincere reflection of my thankfulness to Allah, which He definitely owes.
as for "that" something missing that you feel...i will definitely try to understand and will try to put into words worth being read....in shaa allah.
regards:-
-ghazala l.

dear keith,
thank you for reading my poem..."i have a dream". your appreciation means a lot to me.
i truly feel, peace is much talked about these days but rarely we feel that peace. everyone is at war..with themselves, within family, neighborhood, countries at large....i wish somehow true peace could spread throughout the world.....thank you for your sincere comment.
regards

Message for Nicola - and apologies! I gave you the wrong spelling for Roger McGough (that's the right one!) and I'm sure you knew that but were either too polite to say, or you were extremely tolerant of my ageing brain! Sorry!
Love, Dorinda x

love the bio Frank - I lasted a little while longer but dropped out of education after a month of 'A' Levels - uninspired teaching and what we would probably label a failing school nowadays but I guess a lot of it was me wanting to go my own way and do my own thing because at the time I knew better of course! Sadly I see the same failings in our schools 35 years on as my own teenage boys go through the system - take a look at this week's Poem of the Week for similar thoughts.
There are lots of talented writers here on WoL covering different themes and styles so if you want to learn this is the place to be. Read read read and have fun with words. There are no rules but one tip I would offer is to not get too hung up on the rhymes - there is more to poetry than end of line rhyming although it definitely has a place. Good luck Frank.
All the best
Colin

Jane - yes, go find an open mic and read or sing - I'm sure you won't regret it! Take a look at WoL's gig guide - there might be something near you. Good luck and feel free to post some more poems when you get time. All the best, Colin.

Hannah, Thank you for your compliment on the poem ¨Immense Sorrow ¨. I appreciated your interest. It came as a result of reading and hearing about the town of Accrington during the First World War which sustained horrendous numbers of casulaties. To read more go to Internet and read about the Accrington Pals. It all happened just over 100 years ago. Thank you again. Keith

Hello Daniel, I am a relative newcomer to WOL and came across your profile and the poem The Place where only Dead Men Sleep. This particular poem interests me as I have written similarly in a poem called Hell´s Quagmire which is posted on my profile. We write not from experience as we are too young yet you have captivated the atmosphere so well of what life was like in the trenches. I drew a lot of my inspiration from old war time photos and some written works. Your poem has a special essence to it. Thank you. Keith

Hi Cynthia (Slates) just back from a short break near Minehead and thought my latest muse might have slipped the net unnoticed but no, hawk eyed Cynthia has twigged what B and her ladyship where up to as well. Thanks for appreciating a little levity. I have changed tack a little in my most recent work as I am starting to perform open mike stuff which I am beginning to enjoy. Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Appreciated. P. ?

Hello Samual, I have read your poem ´Death´and your biography. You possess immense talent, honesty and skill. At the end of your biography you write, ´its in the writng´. It most certainly is. In the poem ´Death´the line ´Death whispers in my ear, come you will be safer with me´. This shows an insight quite incredible for there are many who could not express this. Write more as you are already on the road to be a really good poet and writer. Thank you. Keith

G'day Rick, I loved your poem 'To Maria' today - and this one; 'Tea with Anushka'.
May I cheat and echo Cynthia's comments about value, structure, style etc. I couldn't have said it better.
The ability to make the reader feel you are speaking only to them, with a considered economy of words, placed just so... is a gift.
Now I need to read all of your poems posted on the blog...

hi Keith, thanks for comment on Sylvie. I was in two minds about posting it, as it seemed unpolished.
I'm not doing it at my next open mic, but maybe the one after. I'd like to hear it myself, done by someone who can deliver it better than I can. i'm still a bit timid as yet, and I think it needs someone who is more confident.
cheers Kevin

Hi Cynthia really great to hear from you. Yes you were bang on with your suggestion on 'Tolls'. Have been doing open mikes in various parts including Camden and more recently at the New Inn, Send, a hinterland of Woking, the latter courtesy of Greg Freeman's enterprising plans. I don't know if you are the same, but I find inspiration comes in waves. My current poetic home is with the Wey Poets at Guildford. A great bunch they are and thanks again. P. ?

Hi Keith, firstly, sorry for the slightly delayed reply, I have only just spotted your comment. Thank you very much for your kind words about my poems. I was so pleased to read that have you enjoyed what I've written, especially Nostalgia which was my first attempt at writing in this style. I was really encouraged by the response it received.
I hope you are enjoying being part of the WoL community, I have been on here since December last year and have really benefited from it. Sincere best wishes with your writing Keith.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Ja'Net,
Just finished eating my breakfast and reading your lovely comment on my profile page - thanks! It's been great reading your work here on WoL, such a wonderful place to make connections with other writers around the world. I very much hope you will stay and share more of your creativity.
So pleased you like my sample poem. I took a look at Walt's and appreciate the wonder of looking and being in that moment. Sometimes we get too immersed in learning and naming and remembering that we forget to simply stop and observe and listen. Poetry is all about that moment for me.
Thanks also for visiting my blog. I should post there more often but for now time doesn't allow. Take care,
Colin
