Write out Loud

Write out Loud

I sit in my corner and write by day or night

poetry and prose for people who are out of sight

For three years I have happily written

to eventually have become well and truly smitten

I write to receive the comments of others

many of whom have become sisters and brothers

Some live many leagues beyond the seas

but it is almost as if I can hear them sneeze

I have new found friends who abound

on this globe all the year round

Write out Loud is a beacon of talent

and for me it is the work of no relent

Each and every day I log on to Write out Loud

to read the work of my favourite crowd

I comment on their work and they on mine

as I enjoy my morning pot of tea and rhyme

Some have become kindred spirits

with whom we exchange comments with no limits

With others some differences of opinion do occur

but always these occasions are really quite rare

I cherish my friends on this web site

who may remain permanently out of sight

How wonderful it would be for us all to meet

and the great distances between us to cheat

My gratitude goes out to you all

because together we each enthral

Let us draw more into this creative fold

and in our writing be forever bold

Poetry is the heart and mind made manifest

literary merit at its very best

We need to endeavour to learn from each other

and in so doing remain students together

A poetical recognition of the words "virtual" and "reality". I think we
all tend to have an idea in our mind about those with whom we share
work and comment on this site. It adds to the fun.

Thank you for all your comments. I wrote this poem out of a sense of appreciation and gratitude to those who work to maintain the site and all members who participate in this remarkable venture. I also thank you for tolerating my own quirky personality.

Never meet your heroes...but who are the heroes and who are the ones who should not meet them ?

Lovely idea Keith. A WOL meet-up would be just the ticket
If you're ever up our way you'll have to pop in for a cuppa. I'll even dig the strainer out and buy in your favourite loose tea.

Cheers Kevin

Love this Keith! WOL is an awesome platform to hang out with our creative friends that enjoy the magic of words as much as we do. I imagine a WOL meetup someday too, in the meantime we just keep sharing our souls virtually! ?

Well put and so very true. It would be absolutely excellent to have a WOL meet up.

I like this so much. WOL is a wonderful community and it would be nice to meet all of the great writers here.

Well, WOL is certainly a broad church...let's hope no-one nicks the lead off the roof!

A sterling summary of aims and intentions, all backed up by a spirit of sincerity Keith. "If you can keep your head when all about you..." comes to mind here.

I also think of ships in bottles launched into the relative unknown - just my imagination!
