Dear Muse

entry picture

Hide away
if you must.

I don't understand
what prompts you
to surface anyway.

I will do like I always do,
show up on the page,
stumble through what
I was put on earth to do,
share my truth.

I know even though you
fly away again and again
to do whatever muses do,

you will come back,
when I least expect
and light up my soul
with your beautiful words,
like you always do.

I bless your journey
in our parallel universe.

The world’s worst timekeeper, how true. Great advice Graham!

One sentence in a book. One lyric with a killer hook. One glance at a beautiful girl/man. One instant across a breathtaking landscape. The muse is mere inspiration, whichever way it comes. Sexless, formless, the world's worst timekeeper. Whatever you do, do not wait upon it!

I agree Don. I never know what mood my muse will be in and for me it is not always a she. "It" comes in all forms to me, sometimes through soul-soothing music, sometimes as the man of my dreams, sometimes as the goddess I wish I could be. Whatever form it takes, I love my muse too. A visit from my muse feels a little like what I imagine heaven to be.

Thank you Dorothy! ? I can totally relate. My muse visits at the most inconvenient times as well: in the shower, while I'm driving, during a conversation, the blurry-eyed space wake and sleep...

Thanks for reading and your insightful comments David Wolfgar. Victoria is my pen name, a hat I wear to lure my muse into chatting with me, but it isn't working today, apparently. ?

I have two sides - Comic and Serious. One day my muse will come and tell Serious to get to work. The next day it (why always she?) will visit and Comic will begin playing. I love my muse, whether he, she or it...

As ever your words are beautiful. My muse sometimes deserts me and then returns at the most unexpected, and sometimes inconvenient, times.

Rhythms, I would say that's mine.

Love this Victoria.

Making rounds, yes! Of course Graham, that makes perfect sense... like Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, the Muse has lots of writers to visit!

Thank you Kate G. ? Yes, the muse is a beautiful thing, perhaps because it is so elusive, makes us appreciate all the more when it shows up!

Yes, Ray, music, a cater-cousin to the muse! I love music so much and it does indeed inspire me. In fact, I think I will go in search of a fitting song for this post! Thanks for reading and your comments. ?

I would just like to add that music too is the muse and the most ethereal form of falling into the loving arms of it - it too can be abrasive or seductive according to mood! We all know we have to wait for the muse to surface and bless us., Vautaw
