The Write Out Loud Poem of the Week is ‘Light - O’ - Love’ by Katlego Maake Jr

entry picture

This week, our choice is a poem by Katlego Maake Jr, whose poem Light - O' - Love is reproduced below. We're still waiting for Katlego's responses to our traditional Q&A which is such an integral part of this article, and we'll add them as soon as we get them. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the imagery in this piece.

Light - O’ - Love
by Katlego Maake Jr

In this cold spring
where the rain nudges unsettled
hour,
let's cuddle beneath the half-moon
where the stars burst with laughter
at night
---and the midnight absorbs the scent of our warmth.

Let's take off our clothes

and fix the broken warmth of our thighs;

it is not an illusion, we need each other.

Let us take off our clothes
and fill our hearts with sighs
then when so exposed
we end up quite surprised.

Short in words but steps lightly all the way across the continents of the fundamental nature and needs of mankind.

Great work, Katlego

A beautiful piece of poetry with its own rhythm that lulls the reader along. It also left me wanting more and for that a worthy POTW
congratulations
Love it

Well I certainly missed this the first time around (one of the bonuses of POTW I'm beginning to find).

I do like short poems too. they need to cram so much imagery into such a short space and this does that perfectly.

Well done Katlego.
