Lullaby of the River

Relaxing in soft comfort,

Drifting slowly upstream

On our blue cruiser, Moonshine,

I am almost in a dream.

Warm sunshine enticing,

Tranquillity’s here to please.

At peace now with my world,

Enjoying mild gentle breeze.

Tall branches sway overhead,

Mind empty of all thoughts,

I sense from behind closed eyes

Leaves are dancing a waltz.

Diesel’s continuous purr,

Eyelids heavy and deep,

Melodic water lapping,

Soon I shall be asleep.

Now we know what floats your boat!
Seriously, this takes me back to a summer
holiday aboard a motor cruiser on the Norfolk Broads. The purr of pleasure indeed.

Some hopes, John! Mind you, I'm a bit of a fair weather boater - rather wet today, what?

Thank you Stef and Tricia, very kind. xx
