Bonnie Madleen

I first had the idea for this song / poem on hearing the news about the good ship Madleen, setting out for Gaza.

Thunberg and her crewmates were not “deported” from Israel, as reported in the biased media, they were released after the Madleen and her crew were illegally abducted to Israel, and her cargo stolen.

The so-called “personalities” - several failed “comedians” amongst them - in the Anglophone trash media who mocked her humanitarian gesture are nothing but despicable cowards who sit on their fat backsides in cushy studios whilst Thunberg puts herself in physical danger. She has more courage in her little finger than any of them.

I tried to record the accompanying tune on my wheezy old 48 bass piano accordion but it sounded rubbish.

I think the 6/8 rhythm of the original tune was meant to be somewhat lullabye-like, imitating the rocking motion of a vessel on the water. This is the first time I’ve sung anything in years, let alone recorded myself, so apologies for the wavering tone!

1. Scatter our people, burn down our homes,

Say we’re not humankind,

Put us in chains, with bombs crush our bones,

You can’t imprison our minds.
