Why I Loved America
From the blues came rock & roll
Music to fill an empty soul
Teens watched movies in their cars
Dean & Brando, immortal stars
They sent men up to the moon!
Whilst Disney conjured magical cartoons
Little ol’ Blighty, seemed so dull
In shadow of America's neon pull
A place to be who you wanted to be
A land of true democracy
Like a big brother standing tall
To protect & serve, it seemed for all
Our countries connected by loss & war
Values shared for evermore…
You were the beacon, you were the light
The ones prepared to fight the good fight
But, it would seem, the land of the free
Has now become the land of the me!
There's a cuckoo in the nest, a pretender on the throne
The only pockets he will fill is his very own
America's great foundations, are about to break
Whilst lies spew out pretending all the truth is fake
Worldwide, dictators rub their bloody hands
Dancing in joy & glee upon these shifting sands
The Star Spangled Banner, from Hendrix’ guitar
Howls through the ages to reopen the old scar
Oh, brother where art thou? Where are you now?
Becoming a tyrannical rich guy's cash cow
America: if not careful, you will only be remembered
As the land where democracy & freedom were surrendered

Indeed, Stephen.
"Where have you gone Joe di Maggio
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you"
