WRITE OUT LOUD LAUNCHES APPEAL FOR DONATIONS TO MEET RUNNING COSTS

entry picture

Write Out Loud is launching an appeal to our website users, to help us cover our running costs. Write Out Loud is a Community Interest Group (CIC), which means that any money we generate is used solely for our community purposes, to the benefit of our users. But maintaining our website costs money. Right now, we need £250 a month for running costs and to secure the site’s future for another year. Any money raised beyond that will help us approach funding bodies, find ways to expand the site, and develop services for our poetry community.

We are hugely grateful to our existing donors – and we understand that times are tough for many. But any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Even £1 per month will help, though £5 or £10 – or a one-off donation - will help us hit our target sooner.

We need these donations to help us continue as a valuable hub for poets and poetry enthusiasts to post their work, catch up on regular poetry news, check out our Gig Guide and to feel they are part of our active poetry community.

Our mission is to bring more people to poetry. We have around 60,000 visits to the site each month.  We want to keep the site open for new poets to find their voices, and for established writers to share their work and receive feedback and, in turn, help to nurture the next crop of talented individuals. We’re also keen to maintain an advertising-free space.

The last few years have posed many challenges for people all over the world. We truly believe that poetry is more important than ever as people look for ways to make sense of the world, to get them through difficult times, and to celebrate the good.

Neil Astley, widely respected editor and publisher of Bloodaxe Books, has said that Write Out Loud was seen as an “online lifeline during the pandemic”. Now we are asking you for a small donation to maintain that lifeline into the future.

If you are unable to contribute financially right now, we completely understand. You can still show your support by spreading the word about Write Out Loud, engaging with fellow members, and continuing to share your poetry with us.

Thank you for being part of our poetry community. If you have any feedback that you’d like to share with us or if you’d like an alternative method of donating, please do get in touch at info@writeoutloud.net.

I have benefitted greatly from the services of WOL. It is certainly worth making a donation to keep this excellent organisation going.

A very worthwhile cause 😃 The Paypal 'donate' button lets you contribute with a credit or debit card (no Paypal account required) or drop a line to info@writeoutloud.net and the Write Out Loud folks will share their bank details so you can do a bank transfer or standing order.

I've been considering making a donation for some time.
Is it possible to make one without using Paypal?
Could I for instance, make one in cash, at my "local branch" of WOL?
