Night into Day

Night into Day

During the summer months I turn night into day

I sleep little but come alive in the darkness of the night

A time of quietness and stillness

When the soul is able to breathe

and the mind is released from daily bondage

I hunger for such a time as my soul is replenished and restored

I am enveloped in another world

when others slumber I am truly awake

Freedom is here albeit briefly

Cares are given their place

as I take priority of stance

in an early summer's dance

Thank you to all who read and commented on this poem. Summer nights are quite illuminating.

Really like the quietness and solitude you’ve captured here, Keith, and the tone is great juxtaposition to the more traditional imagery of summer.

There is definitely a peaceful sort of comfort in a summer's night Keith. Lovely stuff

Soul has been on my mind lately too Keith. See my last effort.
I know what you mean about nocturnal inspirations.

Elegantly described, Keith. The final couplet is stunning.
