An Autumn Day

The wind whips up
the temperature drops
and all the trees
lose their leaves
the trees now naked and stark
against a dark gray sky
the leaves are now free
to go where they may
tossed by the wind
they run in hordes
down the street
like gangs of school kids
dodging cars
and playing chase
they twirl and swirl
caught in currents of the wind
wild and free
their ebbing and flowing
like watching waves
fun for an old man
with nothing better to do
than observe the weather
on this blustery Autumn day.

Nice one DK. Love the imagery of the leaves running like school kids around the cars. Superb

Fanciful and imaginative, doing its job in very pleasing fashion.
Funny how nature removes its clothing whilst we are obliged to
increase our own! ?

This is one of your very best. A really good poem indeed.
Thanks
