The Forest For The Trees
We know in our heads
how things are supposed to be
yet we miss some things
like spelling or punctuation or
a line that is incomplete
we never see the obvious
the mistake right in front of our faces
our mind sees something different
skips over the error
and keeps right on going
we omit words
we misspell
but our minds give us permission
because we just don't see
our own mistakes
we concentrate on what comes next
and hurry past the obvious
lost in a forest of thought so dense
we fail to see
the forest for the trees.

The mind can be forgiving and able to insert meaning when not
made apparent. Just as some people can fill in the "holes" in
crossword puzzles and others can de-code cryptic messages.
As for a more general "Mother Nature" situation -
The Amazon may have its loggers but elsewhere the situation is
more upbeat - with the UK on target with a tree planting programme
and also the USA, it seems, despite all the doom and gloom -
planting more than are harvested according to recent online reports.
