SHADOWS

We learn from experience

that things are not always

what they appear to be

we learn that poems

are like shadows

sometimes obscure

open to interpretation

the writing in the writer's hands

the meaning up to the reader

the poet makes a shadow on the wall

a composition of light and dark

with parts that are not definite

who knows if it is poetry

or just a figment of imagination.
