Enormous Expectations

I don't wanna quote books I haven't read

nor books that quote books that I haven't read

but yes I grew up with enormous expectations.

 

Now 20 years into adulthood I must admit they were right:

you set out to change the world, but

the world puts you in your place instead.

 

Thank grace for defense mechanisms, 

so I don't always have to relive all my disappointments.
