Forget-Me-Not
I made your acquaintance last Autumn past
You were just a seedling thing steadfast
Lost and alone with no real direction
Needing a home and a little affection
What on earth was I to do with you
My mind was a blur and I was blue
Before winter ensued I planted you with hesitation
Would the future ease my frustration
Time it seemed to stand resolutely still
As the seasons passed and took their fill
Then just as the spring had sprung
I feasted my eyes on the risen one
There you stood in all your splendour proud
The gloom lifted no longer under a cloud
Down I sat beside you on a natural high
As the sun beat down from an azure sky
I took a deep breath and swooned
You engulfed me with your sweet perfume
I am truly thankful for what I've got
An explosion of forget-me-nots
