Good Evening Cynthia

As always you are on the red button!

Yes, I felt the piece, The Last Ferry was just a little overloaded and would as most pieces often do benefit from edit and rewrite.

Once again and as always many thanks for reading and comments

Gus

Hiya Cynthia,

Thanks so much for the comment. To be honest I have tinkered with Eating Mango so many times I am beginning to get quite fed up of it!
The picture was the only one I could find on google that sort of fitted. I also think the tender age of the girl would start folk to a wondering! The story is a made up one and I do not think the facts are correct in any way but I tried to create that feeling of 'difference.'

again many thanks for reading and your time..appreciated :)

Hi Cynthia! good to hear from you. Glad you liked 'Tuesday' sorry the ambiguity is confusing. Its partly because the situation the poem refers to is confusing and I felt that needed to come over-I dint intend to confuse readers or listeners. That uncertainty is tangible and could be a good thing maybe..? Im glad you like it. I love that you feel it has an electric feel. I love getting your feedback. you are so supportive. Thank you. I will be back to you to read your work here. would love to get to sale and chat to you. :o) em

Alright Cynthia?
Yeah i did see the documentary, purely out of boredom and a liking for Sue Perkins though. I'm not too fussed on the guy's private life, i only care about his work. I get a lot more out of it. Also thank you for commenting on my stamina, i try my hardest :).
As for the idea of drawing the reader into the writer's ideas, I've always found it more effective to write something that is true to myself and that pleases me. If other people relate to it or enjoy it that's grand, if they don't no point losing sleep over it right?

Hi Cynthia,

Many thanks for your perceptive comments on "the process." You were spot on with your analysis. I just wanted to highlight what it is we are actually doing when we write something for others to read. It's mind blowing when broken down into its component parts. Maybe it's just as well we haven't mastered direct thought tranfer!

Regards,
A.E.

'girl in a lake' is a breathtaking read, almost literally so, altho i would do something about that last stanza - it seems so out of place, and 'folded her clothes over her mind' is too oblique to me.

and no, cynthia, i don't mind at all that you critique my work - that's why i put it up here. people who use this site simply to chat should go to myface

Thank you for reading my poem. I didn't think anyone would bother. I'm learning how to take the time myself to read other people's work. That is the way to learn. We have a lot in common. I feel honoured to have been alive at the same time as Picasso. A true genius. Less relevant my love of music is as broad as it is wide. And conversation if you're going to bother has to be stimulating. If you're not doing anything early September then we have a Literary Festival here in France. Ask away if you need further details. Best wishes Glyn

Cheers, Cynthia, re: your comments on 'Poetry Is For Cowards'. I'm not married to this version, but it's an old one and I've grown used to it. I do however revisit old ones from time and try to improve on them; after all, for art to have any chance of becoming 'great' - not that I hold out any hope of that happening to me - artists should think in terms, not of finishing anything, but abandoning it when they can't find a way to improve it any further. After all, wasn't the Mona Lisa found at Leonardo's deathbed, with wet paint on it?

Thanks so much guys! You are all so kind!(In Sleep)

Anthony and John - I was aiming for a degree of poignancy - wot r u like! ;)

Cynthia - no way! (Mother and son). And he is "gone" into that deep untroubled kind of sleep that young people seem to manage. And maybe that sleep symbolises the unreachableness of the man.

Ray - re last verse - I'd like to add something to imply that skin/flesh has a memory, as they say that water has. Not sure how, yet.
