I fear what I may write about pregnancy and childbirth may not be too nice Cynthia, and that many may find it distasteful, haha.I almost envy you having two at the same time, both girls? May have cut some of mine down if I could have doubled up. This will be the sixth time, and, if she is good with any luck she should be with us within 5 minutes of arriving at hospital - I have timed it pretty well up to now, and if alls well will be in and out - if not it may pertain to a very interesting piece of writing if I can get the use of my vocabulary back soon enough, I cannot stand being in the hospital, I pray that she comes on saturday, my sister Dana just happens to be a senior midwife, I would love to have her at home.xx

Hi Dave,
Hope all is well with your world and thanks for your comment on "social." I'm still playing catch-up here I'm afraid, and there's such a lot to catch up on! I hope I will be able to find the time and inclination to be a little more active on the site.
Best regards,

Hi Isobel, glad you can relate to whats going on in this... liked your extra comparisons. The shaking bird was a reference to the vibrating. As for the title ;-P , It is supposed to be a winking face with its tongue sticking out but in some fonts that have serifs the tongue doesnt look great. Generally accepted as meaning 'naughty' but I thought the tongue went well with the 2nd line. I have just found ;-9 which is supposed to be 'licking lips' and may be better. Win

hi anne. thanks for all your astute comments on my poetry.
regarding the frustration toward men who cant dance I completely relate. as a ballet dancer in my youth the competition for the usually only male dance partner was fierce and I developed a well honed skill of relating to gay men :) In irish dance the male dancer always won everything and given the best parts and treated like gods cos they were so rare...in swing roc or any salsa type classes women would snarl and fight each other with bitching if they had to share their husbands with excess girl dancers specially as men like to dance with me cos im good! although some men just get that ole thing 'id rather f*** my dog than dance with you' dont worry i dont actually have a dog;)but the best dance of all for me is the argentinian tango...i still dance it as its open to all ages and is the most sublime intuitive dance between partners. i was fortunate enough to claim the best looking, best moving man in the room. Clive...i miss him so but hope to meet up again at the next big milonga then sweep the room all caught up in the thrill of it all...ah.
i love that you write about dance x

hi cynthia. thanks for all of your comments on my work.
regarding comment thread on kealan's omniscient poem:
we were discussing giants and mountains and the loneliness at the peaks of thought...i saw an image on film it was a comedy, could have been from that wonderful tv show monkey, or perhaps monty python cant remember. there's a guru man right at the top of a peak beyond the clouds. another spends his whole life trying to reach him. when he gets there hes overawed by the simplicity of the little man who seems rather annoyed that his isolation has been broken and scuttles off somewhere muttering. The other man sits where he had sat and surveys all. after a minute he shrugs and says, 'is that it?'
i liked this its kind of similar to reaching your own peak and wondering why you bothered to go there at all and spoil the quiet knowledge that some other mind can do that for us with a neccessity for solitude. im a very social person i love company i grew up with a large extended family and isolation is deathly to me. faith in the collective subconscious whilst very real to me is somewhat frustration when the minds i know i share dont even know what im talking about.
i am continually alone in my thoughts. i greatly appreciate the chance for poetry to connect and have made some great friends here through a shared appreciations for words and a quest for truth.
i think my despair is existential...so im fucked really :)

Hi Louise,
Just read your profile poems (recommended by a friend as you don't seem to post much on the main blog.) "Daisychain Summer" is a wonderful piece of work, steeped in both vulnerability and a refreshing honesty about past mistakes. It made me feel sad for the sexually exploited, but happy in the knoiwledge that the years bring experience, and through that wisdom. It should be required reading for all fourteen year old girls.
Regards,
A.E.

Please don't Ann; not on my, or indeed anyone's account. I meant what I said. No one should ever feel thay have to quit because of the words/actions of others. We all add our own colour to this place, and it would certainly be a lot less colourful without you around. Love your new pic by the way, reminds me of something I once wrote ...
Take care of yourself,

Sorry - that's my stupid sense of humour. Do you remember that song - not sure who sang it - probably Fred Estaire or someone ancient you won't remember. Anyway - it went 'I don't dance, so don't ask me, I don't dance, so don't ask me - then I don't remember the rest of the lyrics - as is my way...
You should come along with Louise or Sarah to the Tudor one Thursday. I'm sure you'd enjoy it even if you didn't perform. I'd like to meet you. It's on tomorrow, but that may be too short notice. Will hopefully meet one day.
Isobel x

ps You should send your audio poem to Paul. I remember hearing it at Leigh and they were all good. It would be good hear it again on Jukebox

Hi Isobel. I presume you got to hear the audio remixing of your poem at the exhibition in Wigan. I did a similar thing with John at Leigh Turnpike, but I couldn't get to the exhibition (it was only on for one night). John did send me an audo loop, however, and that sounded good. I will try to listen to "Cramp9ng My Style" on the features section. I have hardly delved into the features so far, but then again, we do live in a world of too much information.
NOW THEN! It's LIVERpoetry! tonight (WED 12 MAY) at the Pilgim pub, Pilgrim Street, central Liverpool L1 9HB. Open-mic. You came to the launch event (at a different venue) and it would be good to see you again soon.
I followed your comments on the state of this site with interest. The people who run it appear to be most reluctant to give LIVERpoetry any publicity in the news section. Hey ho, the petty politics of the poetry scene!

Nicky, I nearly croaked when I saw your message. How could you have known I've been thinking of you so much! I fully intended to make contact today - meant to last week but got caught up with children. I'm so glad all is well. The final stages of pregnancy are very trying (sort of coupled with 'O Lord! It's going to start all over again. When will I ever be ME!'). I am only empathising through my daughter's triple births. I had 'two for one', and chose not to risk another egg-set of possibly three; the chance factor was very high. Write as you can, for it's marvellous therapy for damn near everything. Carry a pad and pencil everywhere, especially in the bath (presuming you might actually get the odd one.) I'm being silly now.
Lots of love,
Cynthia
