LOL Anthony!
I love your comment on my poem 'Pandora's Affliction'...
It made my day - You have a wonderful sense of humour! I wrote the poem first, which in turn inspired my choice of photo.

Hi Anthony - thank you for your kind comments on my voice! Maybe I could do those voiceovers for the M&S food commercials they used to have - " mmmm broccoli" - with lots of practice I might be able to make it sound sexy! (Maybe not!!) ;-) (And hey!"a voluptuous vixen, both feisty and foxy" - are you talkin' about me? Just jokin'! It's a good line tho, might add it to my poet's profile! LOL!)

PS - I think the idea I was trying to communicate rather badly was that "I can't NOT write it" - because it's there (if you see what I mean). B

Hi - thanks for the comments. I think I can honestly say that I generally (except P.Box) just write = ie not for myself or for anyone else - something sparks a beginning, then before I know it, it's finished (sometimes needs a little cropping or tidying-up).
I agree about the sex thing - it may seem a little surprising with some of the stuff I've posted, but some on WOL have made me squirm - I always try to write with honesty & integrity, but sometimes the subject matter doesn't always make for easy reading. I never write for effect or to shock, but I can see that it might come across like that sometimes - to me, there is no subject that I would not write about if the words/ideas were there. I can understand (see Dave Bradley's comment to me maybe) that some folks have boundaries that they would rather not cross, but for me, as long as it is done honestly, there's nothing taboo. Whether other folks "like" it or not is a different matter - and I'm not even sure that "like" is the right word anyway.
all the best. B

Hi - (the beautiful game) - thanks for you comments - I can do nicey nicey as well, but do you see how many comments it got? I've also noticed that rhyming poetry still gets far more interest than other types (mine + others). A lot of people do still like rhyme - I do as well, if it's good. all the best. B

Hi Andy - thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed it. I am trying not to comment too much on any of the other Pandora poems, as I want to include my thoughts in the end summary. I also didn't want to be influenced by other's thoughts whilst writing. I have enjoyed yours though and am so glad that you took part. What has been great about this competition is the community spirit I feel in the air. Great poets getting together to have some fun. It's not every day things like that happen...

Hi Andy - sorry I couldn't chat. Was in middle of trying to sort out audio on my poem. I hate rushing poetry - too many loose ends, things I don't really like. Ended up changing it and then it didn't tie up to the recording. It won't seem to take the new recording though. Blast and double blast - that will teach me to rush things...

Re your comment on Pandora's Box -you are getting me worried Andy!

The competition is just a bit of fun - not to be taken too seriously. I am fascinated by how one theme can be developed so differently by so many. All of the poems reflect beautifully the personalities and stlyes of the poets. How does one compare apples and pears? The more I think about it, the less I want to be the judge...

Hi Isobel, P.Box-I've copied this to you just to make sure you see it. B
Hi - thanks to all for your comments & just to answer some in order:
if Chris thinks this was a dig at Isobel I can say 100% that it was not a dig at anyone - Isobel & I had had some good-natured banter, but as far as I can see, that was all. Same for Isobel herself & her brother TC (I didn't know BTW) - there was no "motivation" - it was just a poem which almost wrote itself, as many do. The catalyst for the poem was Gropecuntelane - a common street name right across the UK as frequented by prostitutes until most got renamed for "decency's sake". One remains in Southwark & one of the newspapers - Guardian, I think - had a picture of the nameplate still on the wall down some backstreet by a block of flats a while back & the name stuck in my mind - can't think why.
Nash - the mighty Nash - got it right -it's a love poem & it says so in the last 2 lines.
Just to reiterate - I've no axe to grind with anyone - dedicating a recent poem to Isobel was just for a laugh - nothing sinister - and I'd hoped it would be seen as such. TTFN. B.

Hi Dave - yes, I can see your point entirely - I suppose I'm just writing about something that has a "spark" for me & hopefully some others "get it" as well. But if it's not to everyone's taste, that's to be expected. I only dedicated the poem to Isobel as we had had some banter going on, but nothing more sinister. all the best. B

Hi Dave - "St johns in the Vale" = a lovely place to camp as I have done many times (despite the midges !) I cant think of a better place to be on a summers evening than outside the pub Kings Arms ? just up the road with a pint or three of what-you-fancy. I'm glad you liked the poem. As for other subject matter - well, as it says in my bio I like to write about all sorts - Nazis, paedos, death, perversion, love, corny stuff, cliched stuff, nature, etc etc. For me, it doesn't always have to be the nice stuff to be able to gain a degree of satisfaction in writing or reading the darker stuff as well. Some folks like Hello magazine & others like Pepys. Just my 2 cents. all the best. B

Hi A - thanks for the welcome. I've been attempting to revise while at the same time writing insignificant essays - and WOL is more than an distraction if you don't completely divorce yourself from it. However, you can't 'fight the fight' standing on the academic terraces - you need to be in there - up to your scrotum in the mud of goal mouth incident. Blowing so hard that the pea in your whistle shoots a player right between the eyes - as it were.
