cheers Win for the suggestion on my poem 'Revenge''... Lot to think about with that piece as I actually wrote in about 5 - 10 mins for a friend shall we say who was having issues after she wouldn't write, so i may well go back another day and rethink it through but for the moment it made her giggle and cheered her up which was the full point behind it!

No, I did a scriptwriting course run by a lady called Beth Mcann, under the name of Primary Creations. She was the brains behind the Not Part Of festival and a general mover and shaker in Manchester. Where do you run your creative writing course? Thanks for your comment by the way!

Thanks for your comment on Red Shoes Stephen - I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of it.
Legacy is an enjoyable read and one full of truth. I have often wondered just how different everyone's lives would be if we were restricted to the number of houses that we actually needed - surely not the spiral of debt and mortgage that many get mired in - or the culture of adults living with parents that we now see. Human nature is such that we all want more though, to feather our own nest or the nests of our children. The only answer would be to legislate and that would be party political suicide. We may take pleasure from a minority falling on their faces of late - but the trend will always be upward and this problem will be with us forever. Sorry if I'm rambling but your poem made me think - which I guess means it has succeeded.

I have made some changes to ‘Blood Onion’, which you were so kind to leave some comments on recently. Could you please go to the blog entry and see if you think these changes are for the better or make sense to you.
Your analysis was a great help. It is meant to be 'him' feeling the anguish from the start as she is doing the 'he loves me...' thing in a taunting unfeeling, maybe manic way. Also The word 'throbs' I have decided to stick with it, take your point, it is unusally placed but we can all break the rules a little sometimes I am sure. Ihave written more details on the blog entry. Many thanks, Win

Re-balloon. Oh no! You'll have to do much better than that! I want a rose with it too. :-)

My niece sends balloons up into the sky for each grandparent on anniversaries of their deaths. She did it at the funerals too. Much nicer than throwing soil in the ground. :-)

Hello Cynthia and thanks for your comment on ''the healer'' poem.
Truth is i'm all out of steam right now and can't be bothered any more. Telling is what i do and if it isn't good enough then maybe i shouldn't be here at all but i doubt you've seen the last of me because i actually enjoy writing ''performance'' poetry and my technique is slowly but surely improving.
I do enjoy reading between the lines of ''page'' poetry but as for writing it? Well, i leave that to the ones who are best at it. :-)

I've enjoyed your recent blog posts and will continue to read. Thanks again,
Janet.

Hi Cynthia,
Thank-you so much for reading and commenting on my work, I'm pleased you liked it.
I'm not sure what a 'flip off the end of the pen' poet is - I imagine someone who just throws it out and sees what happens - in which case, yes - mostly I am.
I have a friend who is (what I consider to be) a 'proper' writer - i.e. someone who gets paid for it! - and she's always urging me to put my writings away in a drawer for a couple of months and forget about them, then when I do re-visit them, she tells me, I will see more clearly and objectively how to edit. But mostly - I'm just too impatient for that!
Thanks again - I appreciate your input,
Cx

Hi Marianne, as someone entrenched in the "make it bloody obvious" school of narrative poetry, your work is a challenge, but I'm hopeless at crossword puzzles and chess, and really anything else that requires a bit of effort. I can imagine listening to the flow of words, backed up by a mellifluous sax, sitting on a giant bean bag, slightly or even extremely intoxicated, in the Museum of Modern Art, and thinking "wow i must get into this writing business. Cliff Richard is so dead!" Definitely brain fodder. Thank you.

Hi Cynthia,
Thanks for your comments on "undercurrents." I think I may have said before that very little of my writing is autobiographical; it's something that I've never been particularly comfortable with. I just tend to imagine myself into situations, or alternatively adapt imagined situations to fit a particular theme I feel like exploring. Today's theme was, as you correctly observed, what past relationships leave behind, and how they never truly leave our subconscious. Oh yes, I've been there several times, but never in the exact circumstances of the poem - I just needed the moonlight, beach and frangipani to add that sense of "From Here to Eternity" romance and lust. Pure escapism - influenced and fuelled by emotinal experience. I hope I haven't disappointed you!
Regards,
A.E.
