Hey Rodney I took out the moral, you are right, it speaks for itself, I think that I tried to reinforce it when it was strong enough -- thank you for the comment, I believe it is now a stronger poem.

The red wine is purely for medicinal and cosmetic purposes, to control the onset of insanity and reduce the speed of aging, and it gently calms the nervous system the more glasses you consume - on a totally socially acceptable level of course. haha.
The only pic of me that I like, probably because its out of focus.
Love that poem, empathise with it 100%.

Hi Isobel
Were I to 'rant' Life-Line, I think I would have to add in an extra 2 lines after Superannuation:-
Oration
Defecation
It was bad enough just reading one of poems at Hebden! I don't even know how to 'rant' or even just rant.
Your comments are gratefully accepted however.

Hi Nicky - thanks for the comments you left on my profile and last poem - it made me laugh and really brightened up my day. It is truly lovely to connect with someone who totally understands...I like your new profile picture - don't think I ever managed to look that glam with a one year old! And we seem to share a liking for red wine...

Dear Cynthia,Yes, it was a play on Wordsworth, partly inspired by 'Wordy rappinghood ' line in Tom Tom Club's piece and Gray's 'Elegy in a Country Churchyard' -full many a flower is born to blush unseen...' As for your poem 'The Rustle of Autumn, it's beautiful -secretly, this is what I think poetry should be, with the last lines that pluck on a string of joy deep inside me.Steve Smith

Hi Isobel, thanks for your comments on Catharsis, funny you gave me the inspiration for it during a discussion. So, if my catharsis ever ends up on someones dusty shelf, hey, you'll be gathering dust with me too. lol.x

hi Dave, thanks for your comment. Are you intrigued by maybe one day our cathartic poery may end up on someones dusty shelves or about Katharos and satanus. Did my homework on this one, was intrigued at the fact that the most famous poets - the majority of them actually write to purge their feelings. However, although I knew what catharsis meant ( be shocking if I didn't being an English teacher. haha), I assumed that it was greek and looked it up. The Internet, my Muse! The wonders of modern technology, I wonder how many more poems the most famous and legendary poets could have churned out if they had access to the internet? or on the otherhand would their poems have been so great if they had access to the internet!!
Imagine. Shakespeare, Blake, Coleridge or Yeats asking jeeves or googling in the middle of the night looking for inspiration! haha.

Hi Cynthia
Old Folks Home
I've been equally fortunate, but the images came together last week after I saw a room set aside for Age Concern, and listened to a middle-aged lady who was unable to even go into the room because of the memories she had from her own parents stay in an old folks home.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Hi Isobel,
thank you for your kind comments on my poem Shoormal. It's strange you found loss in there also, I hadn't intended it so much but I think it came through from another place. It was more about a passing moment, finding myself in one place within another, kind of..
thank you : )) Deb xx

Hi Win,
Lovely to hear from you ........ how are you? I've not been so brilliant, had a small operation last week and am currently holed up at home, bit bored, and talking rubbish .... but I'm blaming the psychesummatorother pills I'm on for that!
The video was great fun to work on, and the beauty of it is - it is Paul and Nat's work so I can disclaim it if you don't like it! But come on...you have to admit.... my rabbit is quite something! :-)
Hope to make another northern expedition in the not-too-distant future, see you then.
Take care,
Cx

HI Dave, thank you for reading and posting your kind comment on my poem Shoormal. I went to a beach north of Liverpool once, near where all the red squirrells live, it was HUGE and there were winsufers and other things with wheels scooting along the sand, I can't remember the sea muddily shlurping but I was distracted by all the wind powered things...some of which were horses... nice beaches though you have down there, thanks again, Deb x

Just read Lilley, maybe I am wrong but it seems a sad poem about he loss of someone who had and took a piece of your heart. I am lucky in the sense that ,that has not happened to me but, i know the feeling because it nearly did. I still remember that day and it is horrendous. So I admire you and on a lighter note, you aren't too bad at chucking words down either.

Thank You Steve.
I think sometimes you need to have humour or a light approach when dealing with heavy issues. It makes an easier read and easier to focus on the images, anyway who the hell am I to say - I just write stuff and doff my cap to those who like it.
I like you verse - powerful with intricate imagery.

Cate,
Re: For Whom The Wheel Turns:
'I would agree with you that the concience has its own way of "pay back" but I would like to think that for those who have no conscience, there is a higher order, a sort of cosmic "equalising" which applies to all things. This was what the poem was about.'
I totally agree Cate...
I believe that even if you don't have a conscience - you will eventually get what you deserve...
What goes around, comes around : )

Thank You for your comment on my poem 'the list'. I am glad you liked it.I think I will give it the 'harder' edge by taking off the moral at the end- after all it's a strong piece and the original ending softens it too much.
I like your work ,it has strong images to it.
Thanks
Spencer
