Hi Andy, thanks as always for your comments on all my poems.
To be honest, i think i posted the last one way too early. It needs some more work and i'm not happy with the title. It just doesn't sit right so i'll have a think.

John,
it's good to know people who like music-still more to know someone whose actually heard of a bands I'm writing about. Actually I keep writing about bands I've seen.

Hiya Mark,
nice to see your real tag but i liked Horace the spider too.
Thanks for your comment on my latest poem. I do think i posted it a little too early though and i also think i've edited a little too much out of it and on top of all that i now want to change the title. hmmm...
we live and learn! :-)

Thanks for your comments on my HD poem. I agree with what you say. As so often, I rushed to put the poem on. Have turned breath into breathe, which is what it was meant to be. I think my problem is that my poems jump into my head then right onto the page without me thinking much about them! Nice to get such a lot of caring feedback! xx

I adored Beautiful Girl, it had me in stitches. It also made my other half laugh too, no mean feat. The King is Dead had some fabulous ryhthms in it, I read it aloud (to the other half again) and the "son of a mother..."stanza in particular was just gorgeous to read.

G'day Dave - thanks for the comment on my profile - as you say on yours there is a lot of fun to be had just by trawling the site. I think now I would have liked to have made a bit more of the fact that the poem has a very poignant ending that has little to do with the science... And a very happy New Year to you too.

Hey up Our John... me poem is laid in a bi lateral form insofar as it helps me perform ican quickly scan the page to breathe, pause, emphasis, burp..whatever.
However, thats not to say that your suggested edit is not an improvemnt ... because poem to page I think it is, but I would take my version to the open mike...I;ll read and record both versions an try an prove a point, in the New Year, little sense will come from until I have made a fool of myself at the bells.
Have a gud'yun, by the way hope yer bum is on the mend.
Gus

Do you mind the fact that everyone always assumes that the poems we write are based on ourselves? This is such a strong, personal poem, but you could have invented the scenario. I feel that I'd like to write a poem and leave it open as to whether it is based on me and my experiences. If you write a novel about a mass murderer, people don't assume you are a nmass murderer. Or is it that poetry is always a sort of truth? Don't know. lotsoflove ;-)
Ann, couldn't agree more with your comments above posted on Rachels blog entry... thats what poets do isn't it? If people assume you are writting from personal experience then thats a bit of a leap surely? Win

Awww - you're a sweetie - I've never been called beautiful before. This is one of the rare facial photos I'd bother to put up - am just not photogenic. In fact, I have to look that way cos my nose is crooked if I go the other! Glad you approve though and I hope you won't miss the ankles too much - they were never mine...xx

Helloooo,
re your question about the reader assuming the poems are autobiographical, I don't particularly mind. It does feel a little exposing but it's my choice to post them on here isn't it? I admit some of my poems are autobiographical, some aren't, some of the things I write about happened to people I know but not to me personally. I think readers will always assume there's a back story themselves anyway whether that's poetry or prose. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness in asking me that by the way.
Love
Rachel

Hi Greg - glad you're well. I used to like walking round Hampton Court, but usually went to Kew Gardens! Miss all those trees - not many where I live, too windy! I put the walking the coast path poem up to remind me what I want to do this coming summer, a sort of new year's resolution. Don't think I'll go just at the moment, the days are too short. But maybe toenails don't grow so fast in the wintertime!

Hi Ann, yes I did have a good Christmas, thanks, including a nice walk along the river beside Hampton Court! Hope you had a decent one too, and very best wishes for a happy and creative new year. My one worry is ... is it really wise to be undertaking a coastal walk in this weather? Hope you're keeping an eye on the forecasts ...

Ann, I so know what you mean about the poem on the back of the fag packet syndrome. I wrote one in half an hour the other day while the kids were pestering me and I was hugely pleased with it. Others I work on, like really work and they just don't have that 'feeling'...weird innit!
