Good afternoon Ann-sorry for late response to your very encouraging comments on my last three poems-was busy-driving for four droning hours down(or up?)too many miles of motorway-hence the long lie in-the consolation of the drive was the accompaniment of a lovely lovely yellow(cheeses coloured you would say)Moon, smiling ever so sweetly-wowsers! thanks again darling-means so so much..Stef.xx

Thanks for your thoughts on Wrong Road Roun'. I confess I never did a stint underground although I had 21 years in the industry.
Incidentally, it's not so bad being in a confined space - I'd hold your hand.

Hi Win,
If you copy and paste a youtube url, e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0e4ZqxJSnM&feature=related
into your text when you are creating a blog, it will automatically turn into an embedded video
'My friend comes from Manchester' was filmed in Blackpool - we did about 3/4 poems and they use 2/3 of them. At one stage we were messing about on the beach with the crew and somehow got some sand into an incredibly expensive camera lens :(

Hello Elaine,
Thanks for your comments on Night Mail. It's certainly a bugger to recite - you need lungs like a blue whale to get it all out.

Alan, thanks for your comment. The idea behind 'Aidez moi' was to get people to suggest ways in which anyone can improve how they write poetry. Somehow people ignored the proposition and posted all sorts - nothing to do with me Guv.

Hi Laura, thanks (I think) for your comments on my prostitute poem.
As an ex-computer programmer I certainly have no problems with numbers neither am suffering from Low Latent Inhibition. I just like playing around with words and their placements.
The idea with 'Episodic' and putting it on it's own line is that it not only refers to viewing but also when one is in a pub one has 'episodes' of sitting, standing, going to bar, toilet etc; then maybe being involved in your own thoughts, conversations then occasionally becoming aware/viewing what's going on in pub.

Thanks for your comments on the prostitute piece. It may well be that I unconsciously was echoing John's 'man' poem as I like it a lot. But what I actually had in mind were those jokes that begin with the cliché: 'A man went into a pub' or 'A parrot went into a pub' or 'An Irish man walked into a pub' etc - I thought I was playing around with that. I can't change it now as Banksy says he'd kill for those lines ;)

Thanks for your comments. Although I was playing a little, it was an exercise in trying to take clichés and make them new/different.

Laura, I haven't looked at that paper in a couple of years now. But maybe I shall again. Who knows what I perceived that night? I just remember saying over and over: This is not possible, and then proving that it was. It seemed like some kind of esoteric insight, actually a bit scary because I don't know where it came from. Up to now I haven't shared this experience with anyone except my husband.

Laura, many years ago I did some number crunching based on 10 - based on the Bible. I was completely blown away - like I had discovered quantum mechanics. The figures turned on themselves perfectly - the results were completely predictable no matter how I approached them. I wrote the numbers down for fear I would not remember the sequencing, the rationale, the explanation. But next morning the numbers were unreadable to me. I have the paper still, with its number columns and anecdotes, but I cannot fathom it. I KNOW they were amazing the night before. Life can be weird.
