Hello Greg
Thanks for the comments on Big Issue and Sobibor. Mogadishu=Big Issue - a bit of a stretch, though, eh?
I did Sobibor after the story of the conviction of John Demjanjuk. It seemed to me that morality's an easy commodity when we're safely coccooned.

HI Isobel
Thanks for comments. I wrote the song for a mate who after a messy divorce lost faith in all women. I've just sorted out a utube page (DEVINEHAZE) so me and my co/singer song writer can get our songs out there. There's a video up and more coming soon (don't think this one will make on to utube its more a busker song)
Many thanks for intrest and Comments.
Ian....

Hi Greg - thanks for your comments on London Tube Map - underground trains are certainly spooky at night - writing about the map brought on other thoughts allied to claustrophobia such as getting stuck in a tube tunnel when powers fails - yuk

Nah, not being kind ... your poems are always very interesting, often very different from each other, and thought-provoking, and when you're away from the site for a few days we really notice it and miss you! I must say Lundy does look quite a bleak spot from the North Devon coast. And in the fog ... but very atmospheric too, I guess

You're always so kind with your comments Greg! I wasn't bird monitoring this time. It was just a three day break. But fog and wind and being on your own does not make for the best of holidays perhaps! I do better when I am combining doing something usefull with a holiday I think. It is an amazing place - I just felt that we didn't quite "take" to each other!

Cynthia I much appreciate your detailed appraisal of Woking Junction especially as one never really knows whether 'Odour rich latrines' is a safe route to go along with some and especially our ladies. I'm so glad this resonated with you.

Many thanks for your comments on Woking Junction Greg - not the first poem I've written about Woking's train system though - and having been in the military at Pirbright as a youngster I can personally vouch for some of the romantic goings on with squaddie types plus the harsh approach of the redcaps based at Inkerman throwing their weight about - monochrome days perhaps but I'm sure there were hands reaching out from windows of departing trains which never quite reached the loved one on the station before the steam and smoke obliterated the view.
Thank you for the comment on Newlands Corner Greg - appreciated.

Thanks for your comment on Escape Cynthia - I really wasn't sure about it but you've made me feel better! I think I posted soon after Rachel Bond's and felt woefully inadequate - though deeply disturbing, the poetry in hers was remarkable - my winner so far, without a doubt.

Thanks for your comment on my poem Elaine - it's about the departure of a friend, which saddened me. It probably comes over as more serious than it was actually intended - I was aiming for detached regret underpinned by an empathy with that person.

Most paths we take lead absolutely nowhere. There are worse places to end up than the Tudor beer garden, in my experience anyway - Mordor for one LOL x

thanks for comment on escape , its a wierd one really , as part of it is something that actually happened to me as i was walking along. i felt myself step through a doorway , portal , just slap bang in the middle of the tudor beer garden!and i knew i was changed. the rest is about much of what you say but i never had religion and chose not to get it .. i think we both escaped the prophet and i

Thank you for your considered comment on Escape, Cynthia, your thoughts are always appreciated. I thought about it, but won't be changing it, because I do prefer it the way I wrote it. I realise it isn't the most 'poetic' write in the world, but there is some poetry in it I believe. And it was a bit like stripping my skin off so another reason is that I don't really want to revisit it - left me in a pretty fucked up way the evening after I put it up.
Now I want to write something joyful about Peggy Seeger, because I think I fell in love with her watching her play the other night :)

Thanks for the comment and suggestion on Nothing Remains,I think your idea is great and will enter the edited version in the Escape competition. I'll keep the full version for general use as, as you noticed its in memory of my mum and the day we scattered her ashes at Crich stand. It was very winds and I managed to catch some of the Ash in my mouth when it blew back, numpty son not doing as he was told!! Hope to see you at Sale - Dave
