I can't let go...

Helplessly watched him

Day by day

Growing weaker

Fading away.

Prayed for a miracle

Hoped for a cure

All the while knowing

The end was near.

And people said

When soon the end came

"He's peaceful now

He's out of pain."

My mind acquiesces

But the hardest part

Is explaining that

To my aching heart.

And every day is harder

Than the one before

For each new day

I miss him more..

Loss is a powerful emotion and this is a beautiful poem.

To lose your dad was a big blow.
But up to heaven he did go.
He will look down upon you every night,
And be so proud of the poems that you write.

Thank you all so much for your kind words.

I lost my dad five months ago and I'm still struggling to come to terms with his death.

Poetry is my catharsis and my new WOLer friends mean a great deal to me, hence my poem 'Perfect Strangers'. Thank you all...

Beautiful heartfelt poem, I hope it is not based on personal grief at this time, if it is I completely understand and am sorry. x

Chrystel,
A sad lament and a Tribute to love. When our hearts ache they do so with genuine feeling. Bless you for these fine words.
