They grow a lot of sunflowers around here and they have just started coming into flower. For the next three weeks or so we'll have the blessing of this drive-through movie.
The sunflowers are out, tilted up
To fluffy clouds, busy about
The royal blue sky.
The golden crowds applaud their busyness.
Golden hoards in green seas floating
Below the royal canopy.
So the windscreen of our modest car
Becomes a wide screen, drive-through movie.
Near and far extends the scene
Of armies cheerfully immense
In their yellows and green
With rich brown eyes staring, staring
At the royal blue sky.
This is no tense, what happens next drama.
This is full on, feel good, fluffy clouds
Sunny vistas, sunny scenes,
The golden drive-through
Never ending so it seems.
