INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S WEEK

(My support for the sisterhood)

Raise your voices; sisters speak!

International Women’s Week.

Banish weakness.  Let’s be strong.

Time to right what has been wrong.

Linking arms in sisterhood,

Pledged to Justice, pledged to Good.

Standing proud and standing tall,

The worth of one the strength of all

Yellow, brown or black or white

Joined together in the fight.

Joined in gender, joined in name

Equally we are the same.

Bald or bushy, straight or dyke

All our fannies look alike.

I suspect you may not be that familiar with my poems, Frances. Personally, I think they are two of the finest lines of verse I’ve ever written. The previous lines are trite pap.
On a more cerebral level you will have recognised the form - an anacreontic, a number of undefined lines consisting of seven syllables arranged trochaically.

Any support you may have engendered was absolutely annihilated by the last two lines.

I enjoy that other offering, MC, "If you don't know I'm not telling".

One sentence divides the genders
(I brave the boo and hiss!)
Those wondering words so often heard
"Does my bum look big in this?" ?
