Brexit

Brexit

Chaos wears a veil of deceit

scrap metal with refuse spew forth

Embroiderers unpick the mangled barbed wire

as distant voices in discord pronounce nothing

Incompetence and Ignorance stand as sentinels

the inept and unqualified replace the hinges

Misfortune born of apathy and stupidity

in a playground of clowns in full costume

Groups, free thinkers and empty cisterns

reek echoing sounds of ruinous despair

Some pull, others push betwixt the seasons

An island, a cul de sac bereft of reason

ants scurry about and some do shout

A guiding star hidden by voluminous clouds

road signs lay broken, trodden underfoot

The carousel does spin with its crew

if only there was someone who knew

Fantastic Keith. Every word counts. Great work.

One of the founders of the "project" set out the need to keep the
truth behind the process from the peoples of Europe and in my lifetime I've witnessed our own elected representatives (with a few
laudable and often derided exceptions) signing up to the plan (and
it WAS a plan) to transform the Common Market to a political power-
grab. In my working life, I took an oath of allegiance to our sovereign
lady, Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors - and unlike certain
members of parliament, past and present, I do not consider it to be
transferable to Brussels, its heirs and successors.
The country will survive, as it has always done. We only need to
keep our nerve and our belief in ourselves, as previous generations
did in even more dangerous and risk-filled days.

I hate politics at the best of times but I think you have summed it up rather well Keith. I particularly like the first line
Nice one my friend

Keith this is a superb piece of writing mate.

I adore this line... "An island, a cul de sac bereft of reason"

This sums us up in a few succinct words perfectly.

Well done on a great poem

A sad summing up of the situation.

Great, Keith.
