Unseated

Unseated

Empires rise and fall

no matter how mighty and tall

When an empire has had its day

it is time to look for another way

Rome the all powerful and great

is now only a small city state

The British Empire on which the

sun never set

now has a very substantial debt

The time has come for another empire

to fall and crumble

as its inhabitants begin to tremble

Uncle Sam the American Eagle

will soon no longer be so regal

A new rising star is in the east

a strong and mighty beast

China teeters on the brink of

being a world power

as other nations begin to cower

Empires rise and fall

no matter how mighty and tall

MC I was feeling ok this morning until I saw your post here...then you brought me home with a crash.

I'm not complaining here btw I am just made aware of how little I know about so much. I know you know what I mean

weirdness everywhere.

An Irish priest drew a detailed map of the darkside of the moon.

It took NASA hundreds of years to get a photograph that when it was superimposed over his drawing was an exact match (apart from a few additional craters that were not created until after the eighteenth century

Strange but true ( I found this out about twenty years ago so may have the dates wrong) I will have to see if I verify it again.

Don't forget the Assyrians, the Egyptians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Mongols, the Aztecs, the Russians, the Dutch, the Portuguese, the Austrian-Hungarians, and the Turks (the Germans and the French are too obvious to bother with).
More recent candidates will probably pollute themselves off the face
of the planet.

Keith what is on the 'dark' side of the moon that attracts a country who has such an abysmal human rights record and so many of its populace without a pot to piss in?

Poetry is a great way to illuminate the masses to what is going on.

Your poem is so right in many ways. For who is it now that is playing the fiddle?

And... who is paying them perhaps more importantly to keep their eye OFF the ball.

Perhaps your poem might open a debate and gain some insight
I propound few will look so deep

Spot on Keith...Empires rise and fall. Britain is still dining out on hers. Spain and Italy are now also rans. I think the USA will endure because of its population and land mass. China is on the rise, but it is based on cheap labour, poor human rights, poor H&S, and poor industrial environment...all of which will come back to bite them I believe.
