REST ASSURED

If, as you come to the time to depart,

You find yourself alone,

Rest assured by the thought that it marks the start

Of a journey - but not on your own.

The friends and relations of years long past

Will appear to show you the way;

To be there beside you, to lift you and guide you

Away from your brief mortal stay.

Thanks for the comments - and the likes.
I remember above all the day I was summoned to my
mother's deathbed and found her with something like a
smile on her face - as if she had seen something welcoming
in her passing. I wonder if Don is on the right track when
he suggests each life as a progression towards an unknown
completion of a project. Remember those stories from folk
who are certain they have been here before?
Ferris - excuse me for asking but what is "DMT"? Not an
abbreviation that springs to my mind.

A well-written delicate poem I'd say. Very nice indeed. Thank you, Jane?

I believe there's got to be something after we leave here. With a science background logic tells me our spirit/soul ? goes nowhere? What a waste of 90 years. I guess I'm talking about recycling. There's gotta be a spirit recycling bank in the sky. I hope the keeper of the bank thinks I'm worth another try. Maybe that's the whole purpose of life.?
Continual recycling in a hope of spirit improvement....

Keith - I am not religious in the "man made" sense of the word, but my own favourite for belief in something beyond
this mortal coil is the reality behind a TV signal.
Its presence can't be felt but with the right receptive
equipment, the picture and sound appear. Eureka!
Maybe that is a pointer for a future existence - far removed from the limitations of this life, with its
step by step advances as we grow "wiser" with the
passing of time...towards who knows what?
Also, the memoirs of Air Marshal Sir Victor Goddard - man
of action with a strong belief in the spiritual world - provide compelling evidence of "something more".
Well worth a look if I haven't mentioned him before in
another context.
Thanks.
Don - thanks too for the comment.

I like this MC, whether you believe in the theology behind it or not. Well written, and enjoyed.

MC.,
A good poem which assures us of eternal life but I doubt the theology behind it. It is of course a controversial subject. We have no firm knowledge to support the claim of a hereafter but scripture is full of solid examples, especially the gospels where Christ says to his disciples that he goes to prepare a place for them and that they will be there with him. I believe this, not that it provides me with any comfort, rather it makes sense of life and there being something else which is greater than ourselves and we form a part of a divine plan and not simply abandoned at the point of death.
Well written. Thanks
Keith
