Tell Me

Tell Me

Tell me, Stranger, tell me do,

What makes the world spin round for you?

What do you love, what makes you cry?

What do you hope, before you die?

Tell me, Father, plant a seed,

What path I follow, where you lead,

Give me compass, strength and plan,

To show me how to be a man.

Hold me Mother, sing me songs,

Give me rites for all my wrongs,

You gave me life, you set me free,

Now let me live now, off your knee.

Tell me children, tell me true,

How goes the game of life for you?

How no creases, how so here?

Teach me how your tears keep clear.

Tell me partner, stay beside.

My crutch and rock, you cannot hide.

We are one, us two walk still,

Through deepest valley, steepest hill.

Tell me lover, help me see,

What was it that you got from me?

What made us laugh, what bound our hands?

What puzzle did we understand?

Help me God, if you exist,

God help us all from out the mist.

The darkness comes, I fear the night,

But love is strong and you just might.

Where is Heaven, where is Hell?

If God is real, is Sin as well?

How come goodness dies so soon?

We’re dancing to the Devil’s tune.

Tell me mind, where meaning lies,

Give me a light behind my eyes,

Keep me strong and keep me whole,

And make connection still my goal.

If this is meaning, if the sum,

How can our lives with purpose run?

This is certain, this much true,

That I is naught without a You.
