The alarm is set for some ridiculous hour

Just so I have time to shower

Before my little one wakes up bright

Even tho she was up half the night!

Time for hot coffee that I need

Can't live without my caffeine feed

I check my phone to see what's occurred

Out there in the adult world

On Facebook I see what friends are doing 

One up a mountain, one canoeing

I also live out a similar dream

Climbing the wall and paddling upstream!

My life has the hardest challenge of all

Getting my daughter ready for school! 

Getting dressed as a princess with tiara

Is my 6 year old, Chiara!

"That's not your uniform I said to wear!..

...and what's that pink stuff in your hair?"

"Mum I want Rapunzel hair with flowers?"

No chance that will take me (f*cking) hours...

(Please note I don't swear at my child

But in my head it's not so mild!)

At last her uniform is in place

I combed her hair and washed her face

"Have you put clean knickers on?"

"I have mum but they feel all wrong...!

I'll get undressed and start again..."

At this point I now count to 10!

I go and put make up on for work

So I don't look like a total jerk

"Hurry up chiara I won't be long...

GO find your shoes and put them on!"

Book bag, bottle, books all read

Too many things are in my head

"Have you brushed your teeth?"(the sixteenth time)

We'll never be at school by 9

Finally we dash to school in the rain

For 2 hours I felt a mental drain

But in she goes all happy singing

And a part of me feels like I'm winning

So when I get to work on time

I've achieved a simple goal of mine

Child at school both clean and dressed

I can now sit and have a rest!

Another battle has been won...

The battle of a busy mum!
