Precious

Precious

My diamonds do not sparkle bright

In the sunlight any more

They lost their icy glisten

When you walked out my door…

My sapphires are all faded dull

They’ve changed from blue to black

They changed when my heart realised

That you weren’t coming back…

My rubies are the deepest red

Just like my aching heart

The passion hasn’t gone away

Just because we are apart…

My emeralds are now the brightest

More vibrant than ever seen

Since I saw you with another girl

They glow an envy green…

You were so precious like the stones

You gave to me each year

But they are all  worthless now

Without you being here…

Let me throw away the diamonds

I do not need them anymore

I’d give away each carat

To have you walk back in my door…

You are the sparkle in my life

Come back and you will see

At last I finally understand

What you really mean to me…

A beautiful melancholy poem that I am sure most people can relate to.
