February 2017 Collage Poem: Mythology

entry picture

Lost in transition

Your words carried like a brief encounter

Emotion is the monster hiding outside the walls

Gangreen in suburbia and skinned alive

With donkey ears! Good Gods!

Occupations occupy stations on the wall

Barrymore paints the myths of time

To hang in Manchester as a quiet man

Tells of lost love.

Sonnets to art leave us lost

There's rumours

Strapped to the rocks and giving death stares

To the green-eyed monster

Sitting kissing

Silence cutting through the air

There is a rumour going round

That a post truth world is coming.

Tied to the rocks awaiting her fate
before the Monster of the depths arrive
cut naked body free kissing legendary lips
only leaving her to be rescued again!

Wow....I'll be honest, some of these things fly over my head but I think I still gleamed how sad this post-truth world is. Emotions are so fickle yet people place so much on them.

Wow, that is just so forceful. The ancient myths leave imprints in the poem's surface while the narrative drives on to its portentous post-truth conclusion.
