Lost

I can't find it anywhere,

It's gone, disappeared,

Hidden somewhere dark.

I looked amongst the books,

I searched the internet,

I even checked the fridge.

I don't know where I put it,

I tried to keep it safe,

I don't remember where it is.

People have helped me look,

First a lady doctor,

Then a psychiatrist.

The CPN, she looked around,

She even brought in others.

The crisis team they searched the place.

The fact is it is gone,

My mind is lost amongst the junk.

Let's hope it turns up soon!

Reading it back now, I am surprised by my own ironic humour. I think this one has legs in the future.

Louise - I hope you know the expression 'Can't see the wood for the trees', which sums up this piece. Often we are too close to the problem to recognise it for what it is, and despite assistance and reassurance from others, our understanding of what is happening is fogged. I like the self expression here.
