The Apprentice

The Apprentice

"I saw it all"
said the witness
"For I am the carpenter"
head down, foot up,
arm stretching ever more...

"Try to keep it to that line
hold it straight and true."
Teeth vibrating every stroke
board slipping, blood dripping,
from the deep cut then resulting.

"Darn it!"
Said the seamstress
"A stitch in time
you know will save nine."
Came forth from her needle tongue.

Three quick silk stitches
and all soon had a laugh,
for the blood stopped dripping.
Then a black cat crossed the path
Followed by a figure in darkest ever flash.

"I swear she had a broomstick"
Said the apprenticed son,
before he turned to run,
promptly tripping over his tools
He felt such a silly man...

Hi Cynthia - no particular hidden depths in this one - to be frank it's one I put aside for a few days intending to develop it further but no inspiration came so I left it 'as is'.

Best wishes

This is very interesting, and well written - but I'm a little lost as to meaning. Would you help me out a bit? I have ideas, but I'm not at all sure of their validity.
