Joys of nature

The sweetly scented lilac bush,

those purple iris heads,

blue flowering ceanothus

among pink heather beds.

Sitting in a public garden

gazing out at the blooms,

reflecting past relationships,

we sang in different tunes.

Some wanted different things in life

or were, for me, just wrong

I was yet to find my soul mate

until you came along

From recent tulips dead leaves droop,

sad everything must die

but peonies now show their heads

to greet cornflower sky.

Such pretty mauves and pinks I see

In the alliums display,

forget-me-nots surround them

what better month than May?

◄ you always wanted more

Lynn - painting with words again! This piece is like a Monet or the less well known Nancy Medina. Vivid images of the colours adorning this period of the year. Love it.
