WITH DAVE ON OUR SIDE

entry picture

Oh my name it is nothing; my vote it means less;

But I voted for Labour I have to confess;

But now I am cheering where once I’d deride

Our new national champion

Cos Dave’s on Our Side.

He’s gone into battle for me and for you

To joust with those blackguards they call the EU;

He carries our torches to burn far and wide;

Now Europe is trembling

With Dave on Our Side.

The Krauts and the Froggies, the Danes and the Dutch,

The Swedes and the Turnips – they don’t count for much;

Not when you compare them to our National Pride,

Cos Dave’s in our corner,

Yes, Dave’s on Our Side.

He’s fought like a lion from dawn until dusk

Till he out manoeuvred that numpty called Tusk;

He fought like a lion till he’s satisfied;

No, we don’t take no prisoners

With Dave on Our Side.

But just wait a minute – I’ve seen what he’s won;

“Concessions from Europe”? – he’s having us on;

He’s banged his thick napper against a brick wall

Then come back to England

And got bugger-all.

I think what's stopping many people deciding, Graham, is that they haven't been told what to think.

The fear campaign has already started John.

None of this bloody lot dare talk down immigration, much less try to control it sensibly.

I think we're half way out already

Harry, We in Britain fail to understand that Europe is Germany-France. I think our leaving/staying in the EU must arouse as much interest in Europe as if Spain or Poland were having the referendum.

John,
A propos immigration and Dave.

At the time when Germany was forging ahead (and Britain was the sick man of Europe) Our fraternal delegates used to come back remarking on the hordes of Turkish workers in the German factories. (so - given the ageing pop and the call for a large consumer base - and therefore cheaper unit cost - maybe Merkel aint so daft as people say she is)

We needn`t worry, most of our immigrants sneaked in while we were all asleep.

You are quite right about Dave`s posturing. The idea that we can sway anything vital by threatening to take our ball back is hilarious...reality is about to kick in.

As usual, you`ve got Dave`s shenanigans in a nutshell.

MC - a rather unsubtle use of campaigning for staying in by playing a race card.
Ken- don't hold your breath for a view from Jezza. He's got left and right wingers favouring In and left and right wingers favouring Out. His leadership to date does not inspire me that he'll make a decision.

On OUR side? Now I'm fit to be tied!
Now he says if we leave
We'll witness a jungle
Along the south coast
(Dave - comprenez-vous "bungle"?)

A wonderful rhyming flow of wisdom in a wicked humorous way. The last verse of which Jeremy Corbin would be proud to wind up question time.

Move over Bob Dylan! I like the parody as social commentary: tried it myself, but not as well as this.
